   I loved it.  It was written by a girl in Tennessee and Judd recited it for everyone.  If you look up Nina Mariah on YouTube you can watch her version which I think is even better.  She's a clever girl.
   
   A few parts especially resonated with me, like men not being taxed for Viagara or Rogaine but women being taxed on pads/tampons as "luxury items."  And having to keep your friendliness constantly in check, worrying that someone's going to get the wrong idea.  I can't even count the times I've been called a "tease" or had a dude get mad at me because I "led him on" when reality I was just being nice.  I don't assume every guy who's nice and talks to me wants to sleep with me so I'm not sure why it seems to work that way when it's turned around.

      Thank you for your answer. I really am interested in other people's views on the march and the speeches. I only watched Ashley's and Scarlett's, but I liked Scarlett's better to be honest. If my mother were alive she would probably be at the march.

   I hate poems, and what did Trump "DO" except win an election. Where was Judd & Madonna the last 8 yrs when pres Obama did nothing for women?
   What is their point? BTW, How many men hookers are making the kind of money of their female counter parts. How many men are in beauty contests. Why is there still a Miss America. Miss Universe contest.
   
   Men have been in the market place longer,it is only logical men get better positions than women that haven't been as plentiful or in the market as long. But, the better point is that not all men get big bucks because some other man has it. It is competition.
   
   talk performance. job market is bounded by 2 different principles. 1, It is not what you know, but who you know?  2, It is what you know and how well you have performed.
   Both are in force, which one is in force is different and varied as there are jobs, and hiring managers.
   
   These statistics about salaries for men and women are devoid of performance, experience and merit. When people apply for a job, their experience is more important than their education. the more pertinent experience that meet the job requirements, the bigger the salary the applicant can negotiate for.
   
   Statistics can be made to support or negate any position. And to make claims like men making X and women making X- something has no context, no foundation. To make this statistic even remotely meaningful, All the jobs would have to be exactly the same, and in one company. The reason is that every job and every company is different to some extent. And even in the same job and same group people perform their jobs differently. And it is not gender that makes the difference but performance.
   
   It is not the job of govt to force companies to pay their employees based on protected classes. Companies shouldn't have to pay their employees based on gender, skin color, or any other human attribute. Neither should they have to pay because of marital status, or personal need, as when someone has huge personal debt.
   
   Companies need to pay people for the experience, performance, and contrib to the company.
   
   "women's rights" r asking govt to make them a protected class, while White Males have no redress when they are paid less than other White Males doing the same job even.
   
   Today is the result of Reagan, Carter,GH Bush, Clinton, GW Bush and Obama. Trump was not in govt till Jan 20, 2017.
   Form a union if you want equal pay for equal job that is how the govt does it, but they can't go bankrupt. DEL if u wish.

      Thank you, and I definitely won't delete. I want to hear others opinions. I am not a feminist, not that it matters, but I have a much different view than alot of women that I know. I'm just interested in what others think of her speech.

      What did Trump DO? Alienate over half of Americans with insults like his supporters are now empowered to continue doing every day. This is now Trumpland; and we get that you're very happy in it. Four years will zip by like the FUN they will be.

   It was vulgar and pointless, just like the signs and the hand gestures and the swearing. This was a march funded by George Soros and organized by 3 or 4 women, one of whom is a supporter of Hamas, Cair, and the Muslim Brotherhood and works to implement Sharia Law in America. All those silly women couldn't agree on the meaning behind the march and they were all over the place, immigration, abortion, women's rights, health care, yadayada, but the true meaning was simply anti-Trump and a bitter disappointment that Hillary is a such a loser.

      Does it really matter who organized it? The point is, millions of people came out & represented many more millions who stayed home. And yeah, since when are Trump's supporters concerned about vulgarity? "My fingers are long and beautiful..." Ugh!

   Sounds to me like Ashley would prefer to be a man. Apparently, having to "throw away a pair" of undies because of her monthly cycle, is simply too much for her to bear. Ashley, have you ever tried washing your own laundry, like the rest of us? Basically, she made a speech about being a nasty woman. Clearly, she made that point, but none other that I could see. Most of her tirade sounded like a bunch of words strung together by someone from a madhouse. They made no sense.

      I'm not surprised that you missed the point but she was referring to feminine hygiene products being taxed as a "luxury item" and pointing out how truly not luxurious it is. Compare it with Viagara/Rogaine not being taxed and it's pure crazy.

      To be clear, there is no additional tax imposed on tampons. The tax is a regular sales tax which applies to most things. If Ashley has a problem with that, she can contact the IRS and ask them to explain the highly complicated tax laws.

      So do you not get the implications of exempting Viagra and Rogaine from tax but not feminine hygiene products? It says that men's boners and hair growth = less of a luxury than a woman not bleeding through her pants.

      Like I said, contact the IRS and learn some things. Food and clothing have the same tax.. I'm pretty sure, food and clothing is not a sexist issue. A congresswoman from CA created this controversy to garner popularity among uninformed Liberals.

      Oops, food is tax exempt in many states and taxed at a reduced rate in most others. Watch who you're telling to "learn some things."
      
      You're also totally ignoring the comparison. Why would Viagra/Rogaine be tax exempt if most other things aren't?

      Aime, I know you like playing Gotcha' Rograine and feminine hygiene products is not the point. Luxury tax laws are the perogative of the state. I get it. You are fine with Judd. I maintain that her speech was crazy. Pretty obvious to most anyone.

      For what it's worth, it's not really Judd's speech, a 19 year old woman from Tennessee wrote it and Judd just shared. The original version is less chaotic and makes a few more interesting points. It is not crazy.

   Ashley Judd's reading of the speech was awesome.  I am so proud that she spoke on behalf of all women.  I wish I could have been there you would have heard me yell just like the rest of the women there.

   I thought it was powerful, and very moving. I admit, I cried a bit when I listened to it. But I'm a woman who has experienced some of what that poem is about, so of course I connected with what she was saying.
   
   I understand why some of the other (male) posters might might be confused about what she was talking about, or why she was speaking. Honestly guys, you should just sit this one out. You're not women, so you're not going to relate to that particular piece.

   I  think it was nasty. I do not in any respect agree with insulting anyone for  the color of ones hair.  I would never be so unkind to suggest that a man had "wet dreams bout his daughter" in the light of no proof.   To spread these kind of statements seems unkind, almost vile in nature. No I don't espouses hate or slander. There has been so much said about Our President, things that are not based in truth. Ashley Judd seem to revel in being a nasty woman. Is his what we as women fought for, do we actually want to thought of as hard, and nasty?  Well in my opinion I though the poem was rudimentary, filled with hatred,and innuendos.What have we become when we actually believe it is "OK" to literally say anything we want about anyone we choose? I am not proud of this kind of behavior.

      This seems to be a common theme for some reason... I'll say it again:  your president has said much worse about women and yet you handed him one of the most powerful positions in the world so don't seem to be too put off by HIS nastiness.
