   Technology, machines, equipments can fail anytime!! Its we humans who expect these to be fullproof but we should be prepared mentally for such disasters from time to time!! I am not highlighting BP in good light but at the same time there is nothing wise in boycotting them!!
   P.S: Disasters are happening in the coal mines around the world all the time but we dont boycott them, Chernobyl did happen as did the Bhopal Gas tragedy!!

   Since BP gas stations are not owned by BP they are independently owned, boycotting them is pretty much an empty gesture that might give you a warm fuzzy feeling, but accomplishes little! Bp sells to other gas retailers, theoretically you could just don't buy gas period, but that would hurt the innocent gas retailer, you, Bp and the other oil companies.( a little drastic I think!)

   Boycotting BP will do nothing more than hurt the locally owned gas stations, put your friends, family and neighbors out of work and cause even more hurt in your local economy. I’ve seen this “battle cry” on facebook a few times in the past weeks and my question to those who post this is, “So does that mean its ok to buy gas from terrorists again?”
   
   It makes about as much sense as boycotting BP. Even if a boycott would send a message to the top executives at BP and it did diminish their bottom line; who would be left to pay for the cost of the oil clean up, all the claims that will be filed for years to come, and find jobs for all the workers in the gulf coast? There are millions who depend on jobs in the oil and gas industry and even more who are directly affected by loss of business from those workers and their families who live, shop and contribute to their local economies.
   
   Unfortunately this is a catch 22 scenario, and to be honest, nobody is going to come out on top. There will be far reaching consequences globally for many years to come.
