To all you Republicans out there, name the best and worst aspects of your party ideology. Also, in what ways do you suggest that the party should be improved? Let the discussion begin. Democrats, Libertarians, and Independents are also welcome to participate!
I don't affiliate with any sides. This whole thread will be full of over-generalizations, so here goes!
Republicans need to learn to distinguish between economic matters and social matters. It's fine to support free markets, and support governmental involvement in social issues. Markets need to be free, but the freedom of individuals in the market needs to be protected as well. Money can be used as an economic weapon of force, and the country needs to be defended from that just as much as from external forces.
Democrats need to stop demonizing the wealthy. Yes, there is some corruption, and we need to work to route that out. No, raising taxes on the job creators won't help. Democrats need to learn to distinguish between corporate tax rates and individual tax rates. A business owner can effectively pay 50% taxes or more, by paying both corporate and individual taxes. We need to target corporate tax rates, to be competitive internationally. If Democrats want to regulate as much as they do, they also need to develop regulations that breathe with the market. Some regulations can be lessened during slow growth or recession, to help stimulate the economy.

This is an actual plaque hanging at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. The excuses given from the Liberals who made this are a wide stretch of the imagination.
