The late J Edgar Hoover=the FBI and the FBI= the late J Edgar Hoover. Mr. Hoover established the FBI to be what it is today. Mr. Hoover, in fact, WAS the FBI. He was the power behind Presidents. Through his methodology, he established sophisticated and advanced surveillance technology. He was also implemented spying techniques on those he considered to be anti-Americans i.e. communists, so-called radicals, and others who have a liberal ideology.
Mr. Hoover spied on many civil rights activists including the late Martin Luther King. He allegedly used nefarious methods to destroy groups whose main purpose was to improve the quality of their respective communities. The late J. Edgar Hoover has left a legacy to the FBI which is both positive and negative. Let's discuss this. How do YOU remember J. Edgar Hoover?
I do remember the man as the guy on every Wheaties box, he and his G-men during the 1930's were responsible for disposing of John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, The Barker Gang, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Alvin Karpis, to just name a few. Until the 1960's he was all american and appreciated as such, until his perversions and bigotry were impossible to conceal in a changing America..
