They said we cannot have a chat room because they cannot monitored it. In the past different hubbers made their own chat rooms or met on skype. Sirdent and ProCW used to have a chat room for awhile.
In one of the other forums I posted a link where the administration is considering sending Savings Bonds for Tax returns....We are out of $$...China is now telling us to change our monetary system.....
It is called empathy, not guilt. Some people do not even own cars and take public transportation, work several jobs, and cannot afford health care. Oh well, I really do not want to argue any of these things because it might make you feel guilty.
No chance in making me feel guilty! It must be nice to live in areas with public transportation, there is none where I live. Empathy? well good for you, I feel for people in those circumstances as well, but I never think the government can help them because it can't! If those people are so poor then they are receiving Medicaid or they are eligible to, I have never been eligible and worked my ass of to get what I did have! They can do the same!
You do realize these are real people you are 'playing' with, I assume? Just thought I'd ask. Some of the things you say are a little over the top.
And SP is a professional woman, you know... I'm just curious now, though. What kind of 'work?'
I own a constrution company, we can't find enough skilled workers. I'm based in Houston and all our projects are outdoor projects. Working outside in Houston is really tough stuff so alot of even desperate people can't do it. When we work on a comercial property its not unusual to have temperatures 120+. Thats why I have to slow down a bit I've been at this for awhile and its getting harder for me. I'm on site everyday allday.I've had guys come and quit by lunch and others get so sick in the heat they just can't work.
Now people with credible oil and gas experience upstream and downstream with serious revenue experience there are jobs here. If you're from up north and you want to work constuction theres jobs but I'd hate for someone to come here in the winter and think they got it figured out.
I know you work hard, I know you're also very bright people. I don't mean to make light of serious situations. About 20yrs ago we both lost our jobs in the same week, my wife was pregnant with our son. She was called into the owners office and reminded her where her loyalties should lay. Her employer a woman suggested she consider an abortion. She knew we hadn't planned to have children but theres no way on Gods green earth we would kill our child. We couldn't prove what was said but she was released. No one was willing to take on a pregnant accountant. So, I worked as a dispatcher for a trucking company, on the weekends I turned my hobby into a marketable craft and I got up and threw papers. We had all the same bills plus Cobra payments. I know what hard is, I've been there.
I applogize for being too mean spirited and if I hurt you or any one else that wasn't my intention. In fact when I felt maybe I went too far I've E-mailed the hubber and appologized.(you can ask colebaby) I try to be more careful around her now. I won't use you for my personal amusement if you say so. Thanks Rick.
Well... OK. I guess. I don't quite understand going as far as some of the things I've seen, but OK. I think there is a way to have fun without crossing certain lines. We used to have fun like that on the forums..some of the people I thought were the funniest were of a conservative bent...but people have gotten a bit too mean spirited on here...a bit too personal.
Truth is, nobody here is the stereotype you make them out to be.
BTW, my bf is from Texas, and is an architectural designer. He used to be a builder, too. We are in AZ. Understand the heat issue, certainly. I know there are also a lot of people relocating there...especially near Dallas-Ft. Worth, which is why I own some property there.
Anyway, . Understand who you are, I think. And of course I'm sure you know there are hard working, bright people on both sides of the aisle. How about you just tone it down just a little? I think most would be OK with that... Appreciate your frank post.
Dallas seems to be still doing well lots of new construstion. I would imagine it's similar to Houston. The biggest difference in Houston and Dallas, Houston has alot of heavy industry. Lots of oil field related construction plus petro-chemical is huge here. I might be mistaken but I believe the port system is one of the biggest if not the biggest in the country.
Our friends in Dallas are doing great and seem quite secure. We're not affected much at all, in fact, current sales in our area indicate the value of our home is still going up. Another consideration is Houston is a massive city #4 in America and the really big cities seem to have a life of their own. I'm sure it's the same for Dallas/ Ft worth. San Antonio, Dallas and Houston form a big economic triangle with Austin in the middle. The only problem I see right now is we're in a bit of a drought Houston and areas west have had a pretty though time, lots of dead lawns.
Just do your homework and you'll do fine.
Also enormous bargains as far as real estate in Texas, I find. And low taxes. Lots of beautiful land... Yes, the economy doesn't seem much affected there.
Matt said, lol, he'd never live in Houston though, , and although qualified (drilling engineer, too), he'd never work for Halliburton (sp?). Um, political affiliation. haha. We are actually quite fine here...we just look for investments, mainly.
So, go forward from this day on the forums and spread good cheer! (Teasing you...and listen to your son, he does not sound retarded...oo, sorry about the word choice, Cole, but you know that is just a thing kids say.)
I try not to think about being in Houston. If I do I'll pack and go home, I think about it more lately. Everytime I go see family in the Springs I get so jealous they wake-up to Pikes Peak.
As far as my 20yo son is concerned, hes a nitwit! Hes way too smart for his own good and he thinks all the women want him. He always messes with me, he just stays out of arms reach and taunts me! I try ot catch him but I think thats why God made throwing size rocks. He's the best son a Dad could ask for.
Good night folks it'll be a better day tomarrow, I just know it!
Yes I did receive fan mail from sneakorocksolid. He said some very nice things about me. But it was after the fact. I believe I told him to listen to the advice of his son.
Not everyone here has to be buddy buddy. But why so much negativity? We can disagree while still being respectful to one another.
If I don't agree with you but you present your ideas from a place of respect and open-mindedness then I have respect for you. If you cross the line... away I go...
Yes, my boy has said leave those people alone they don't know you're retarded. He's 20 but if I could catch him I know I could whip him! He roams the Hubs and makes periodic comments but hes back at school and busy again, as he should be.
Well why I don't condone his word choice, sometimes the better option is just to keep quiet. You and I don't see eye to eye and that is fine with me. I have gone back to school as well and am not as active here on HP. It just doesn't make any sense to me some of the arguments I see here
Some people can put aside their personal beliefs and do what is best for others. I know its a crazy concept!
Hi jiberish!! I really love your witt and your ironic sense of humour !!! It makes my day !! Thanks
I'm not speaking of a specific case in particular. It isn't always best to go with the majority. Progress and change usually starts with the minority, even just one person.
A personal belief should not be abandoned because it may make another happy.Change simply for the sake of change is not progress at all.
It isn't change for the sake of change. It is change for the sake of progress. At one point the majority of Americans thought a lot of horrible things. Today we think it is ridiculous. But if no one put their personal beliefs aside and listened to the minority... where would we be?
I disagree that its progress to allow an entity that has never shown any ability to manage anything successfully to now run our health care system. It is nothing more than a power grab! There is usually a reason why the minority is the minority and listening to them can be counterproductive, the Republican party is in the minority in Washington so do you think Obama is listening to them?
It's never about putting your personal beliefs aside. It's about having an open mind so you can hear what someone else says. After all, "One convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still!"
I agree. That's my point. Because most of us come into a situation with an idea, and in some cases it is a strong personal belief. So its important to be able to listen to others.
I'm not speaking of a specific case in particular. It isn't always best to go with the majority. Progress and change usually starts with the minority, even just one person.
My oldest kid helped him get elected he has since recovered from that bout of temporary insanity!
Just one important word for all of you. Very important:
Anti-Christ. You know this must be true. This is very serious. Keep your rifles near.
I've been busy for a few days so please help me catch up with the survivalist rantings.
Obama/Hitler/Stalin, otherwise known as the anti-Christ is going to send his private army to your shacks, take away your guns, forcefully inject you with deadly H1N1 vaccine, brainwash your children with socialist ideals like "staying in school is good", and change the U.S. from a republic to a nazi/communist dictatorship where everyone, even non-deserving low income people who are only low income because of their own laziness, gets treated like a human being.
Wow!
I miss you guys.
Oh, you deserve a cupcake Ron... O M G lolololo
to save you from having to read through all the posts, there was one name-caller who actually found jesus last evening, going from his name-calling to raising the white flag and now stating that he's only on hp "to play." i believe they're known as flim-flam men, or con men.
hmmmmmmm, I guess I didn't miss much.....
Shocking!
Don't count your chickens just yet Blue Bozo! I am capable of irrational behavior at a moments notice. I subscribe to the 'National Guide of Name Calling' and I'm only in the first chapter and I' m here to get my monies worth. If you think I would spend a $1.25 and not use a fine reference like this, you're crazy! Wasting a manuel of this value just wouldn't be Green.
Wow. You've said it so clearly Ron - we miss you too.
He's gonna tell my kid to stay in school? That scoundrel!
Funny, but I've never told my kid that. It's always been understood. How sad it is that some kids even need to hear it. Schools are rotting from the parents out.
It's not sad, it's crimminal! Most high risk kids come from homes where there's little if any parental involvement. The only way to solve it is to break the chain. We have to get past 'The PC Crap' and identify families at risk and intervene. The policy of invading everyones privacy to keep a few people from feeling picked on, is bull! Not to mention expensive!
As far as President Obamas speech to the kids, he appears to be a loving father, I'm sure he'll keep it positive. I think at some point you have to be a good citizen and support your president. They'll watch him like a hawk if mess up the right will pounce. I expect this will be positive and neutral.
He will now, now that his administration has been called on it's arrogance and overreaching yet again by vigilant citizens.

"I pledge to be a servant to our president and all mankind, because together we can; together we are and together we will be the change that we seek." Wait.....WHAT!?? A servant to the president? You can find this disturbing statement at 3:55 in the celeb infused 'I Pledge' video below....

I'm aware that this is an election year. I know that everyone is entitled to their opinions. But over the last year and a half, I've noticed some blatant forms of disrespect being directed at President Obama. Why? Is it because he is black? From highway billboards to other political figures...

All opinions respected. Who would win a debate between Obama and Limbaugh?
