I can't remember who wrote it, but this was written by a columnist during the Robert Bork confirmation hearings:

"If the Democrats want to get rid of Bork, they should let Ted Kennedy drive him home."

Of course, that was a long time ago. Nobody cares anymore.

I listened (to the original on C-Span) and it's hard to tell if it is booing or if it is people agreeing with him about how Social Security could go bankrupt. I'm sure you will ridicule that theory.

Why would the Democrats boo at this point?

"f steps are not taken to avert that outcome, the only solutions would be dramatically higher taxes, massive new borrowing, or sudden and severe cuts in Social Security benefits or other government programs."

Sorry to disagree with all those conservative blogs...
And why did Fox say nothing about it when it happened?

    1. profile image0
Madame Xposted 7 years ago in reply to this

They booed because that's exactly what they want to happen. The democrats want dramatically higher taxes, massive new borrowing and sudden and severe cuts in benefits given to people. Look at Obama's current course. They're not stupid, they know exactly where their actions will take this country.

      Of course they booed.

  12. Uninvited Writer profile image81
    Uninvited Writerposted 7 years ago

Lol, that is their platform and they would admit that by booing.

It still sounded more like grumbling that booing to me. And again, why did no one make a big deal out of this at the time? There is no way of knowing who did or did not boo, that is my opinion.

    1. profile image0

A registered Republican may or may not be a conservative, just as a democrat may or may not be a liberal. However, I've no desire to argue labels with you. I look at what actions people take and match it up with their avowed affiliation. Only then do I draw my conclusions.

    1. IntimatEvolution profile image82
IntimatEvolutionposted 7 years ago in reply to this

And I want no bad karma with you.  However, that does not make me a Hindu.

I think the moral of the story is you can't lump EVERYBODY into one selective group, and trash talk them.  According to you, Democrats have no courage.  I'm a Democrat, I have courage........  But does that change your opinion of Democrats, no!  It's kinda like the KKK, in Mississippi in the 1950's.  Labeling, tagging, leads to a form of racism.

Not saying your a racist, just making an observation.

      1. profile image0
Madame Xposted 7 years ago in reply to this

No, I said LIBERALS have no courage, not democrats. And I haven't lumped EVERYBODY into one category. I have carefully observed the actions of liberals and this is what I've found. If your observations are different, and as a result you hold different beliefs, that is, of course, your right.

I also stated, quite clearly, that I do not want to argue labels with you. That's a hint - I don't use  labels. I observe actions and then equate those actions with self-avowed affiliations. Or did you miss that part?

As to the OP, the guy who threw a shoe at Bush was an Iraqi.  Joe Wilson apologized as he should, and they should move on. Democrats making more of it than it really was will only hurt Democrats and make Joe Wilson a hero.  He said he was sorry, and Obama accepted.  Should be the end of it.

    As for A Texan

I don't think I have every changed the subject on you.  And we have had some nasty debates.

I am insulted by the entire post and tone.  Do the troll 'conservatives' on this forum see nothing and formulate nothing but stereotypes of people in a binary fashion--left/right?

Anybody insulting the President of the United States--legitimately doing so--should apologize.  Would I personally 'require' Joe Wilson due that?  No.  Did/should he have enough decorum himself to do so?  Yes.  And a smart move....  And it was an apology that Obama accepted graciously and told others not to make a big deal about.

As for my opinion on whether it was 'right.'  Let the guilty party's constituency decide that.  I understand his opponent's internet fundraising $ due to this incident has now reached $500,000.

What surprises me is that as much crap as you troll 'conservatives' spew...constantly, constantly belching stereotypes and misinformation...that there are liberals such as bgpappa that take the time to be patient with you.

Why put it on us, Misha.  Why don't you define what journalism is in this day and age?  Particularly American journalism?

Love to hear your take, wink.

I am personally tired of the double standard politics-

Joe Wilson said 'you lie' on the congress floor during a speech by the president.

How is that any different or worse than Kerry calling Bush names or the democrats booing Bush during the state of the union address or Reid calling him a liar and a cheat?

If one is expected to apologize-they all should period.

  26. rsmallory profile image83
    rsmalloryposted 7 years ago

Besides, Wilson apologized personally to the president. He does not need to apologize to congress or on the floor.
