      Absolutely!

Hang on a mo' while I light up another..

Yes there is no excuse for this blatant disregard of other people (non-smokers).
Line them up for the firing squad!

Thank goodness I never got addicted to nicotine. They of course should not be shot but the second-hand smoke is annoying and bad for you.

Ok, this is a European forum and I am so very American but... are you serious?

The very idea that something you do with a legal substance, even in a location where its use is illegal should get you shot, killed or otherwise physically harmed is just, European!

Who in Europe still has legal gun ownership anyway? I know that our Great Evolver in Chief is trying to take ours away (something which he will never accomplish, this I promise you) but I thought you all lost yours years ago?

absolutly not..I can not believe they were shot for smoking! I am shocked and appalled!

I am against this so called smoking law anyway, If you can legally sell them, why can they not be used in public..I can understand in restaurants, but outside of buildings, in smokers lounges, bowling alleys, bars, etc.
many of the clientel of certain establishments smoke, and if people are forced to smoke at home, that establishment loses clientel.

This is America, what is happening to our so called "Freedom and Rights"????

Well heck with this logic I should be able to execute dangerous drivers when ever I see them (as a school crossing patroller its is sadly very often) pedestrians who walk into traffic without paying any mind to the fact that a car was trying to drive there and couldn't see before being close enough to be a danger, how about politicians caught lying and destroying the moral fiber of political ideals, and well why not anyone that gets on my nerves! If not well can we execute the bankers who messed up the economy so badly at least? roll

I think Judge Dredd (Yes, correct spelling)had the perfect  answer. In Mega City One smokers who break the law are rounded up by the judges, including Dredd, and placed in a room where they can smoke away to their hearts content. Of course the room only has a limited supply of oxygen per day and there is no relief from other people's smoke while you are in the room. You may be sentenced to stay there a week or a month or several months depending on the extent of the damage you have apparently caused to non-smokers. Let the punishment fit the crime.

What I mentioned wasn't in the Judge Dredd movie but in one of the comics.  I have a Judge Dredd don't smoke poster somewhere at home. The judges upheld the law. This did not make them humanitarians. Dredd ran around with a robot sidekick for a while and the joke was that the robot was more human than he was even those he was and is a fleshy.

I'm a firm believer in the shooting of cigarette smokers. They're using up too much of the carbon foorptint that could be used by ganja smokers. I'm for water pistols aimed at the flame end of the suckee.

Of course, the next logical step would be to shoot these law breaking smokers after introducing laws for smokers....

Next introduce public hangings and lethal injections on the spot, forget about fines, these evil people need to be taken off the streets....I'm of course being very sarcastic!!

Here's the write up from Feb 12 in the NY Post:

A retired city correction officer shot two men outside a Queens bowling alley where he worked security yesterday morning after they refused to stop smoking indoors, cops said.

Michael Iavecchio, 54, was charged with two counts of assault for firing at the two men with a handgun, cops said.

The retired officer asked Gerard Hourigan and Justin Donaghy, both 29, to leave the Queens AMF alley on 34th Avenue in Jackson Heights, at around 1:40 a.m. and then escorted them to the street.

There, the men, who sources said were drunk, allegedly charged at him.

Iavecchio pulled a .380 semiautomatic and shot Hourigan in the chest and Donaghy in the stomach, authorities said. Both were in stable condition last night and were charged with menacing.

Strange. I doubt a Security man would just shoot for smoking.

Maybe he shouted to them and they ran off.... he got suspicious and shot??

NY State is one of the hardest to get a CCW permit for a common citizen. Why would a security officer (retired jail guard) in a bowling alley need to be armed?

I'm neither pro nor anti gun ownership, but this illustrates that when a handgun is handy, it's a potentially deadly option at the ready. Cops need weapons; do bowling alley guards?
