When did we become a nation of entitlements
where all we are is divisive and crass.
Each American now needs to be on the system
no one will sacrifice or ever be last.

Where burned flags litter the field and
    those who sacrific are forgotten.
Walk through a campus today and observe
the spoiled and graduate the rotten.

They look from across the sea and wonder
    what happened to the greatest.
Watch our media cry and  complain
    which sensationalism is the latest.

In the pockets of the few goes the most
unions line the pockets of our leaders.
The Senators  and Congress sit on thier asses
    and wave like rhetorical bleeders.

Our president doesn't lead anymore it's the
contributors who stand there behind him.
    Corporate giants pull his strings
thier check books ....there to remind him.

An electoral college waits there in the
wings to pull in they're favors.
No America ....once you were the envy of all
And now no respect ..... even from neighbors.

Washington is the center of the complacents
to once again be reclaimed by you.
That is, if you can stand up , once again,
behind the red, white and blue.

Whattsamatter? YOu miss the days of soup kitchens and tent cities?

BTW, the poetry flies in the face of facts - damned irritating things - facts.

"Pew Global Attitudes Project, which polled more than 24,000 people in 22 nations between April 7 and May 8. (From country to country, the margin of error ranged from 2.5 to 5 points, plus or minus.)"

"But Pew noted that "in a striking difference from the Bush years, these policy disagreements have not significantly dented the U.S. image. The U.S. favorability rating in Western Europe is overwhelmingly positive, and confidence in Obama to do the right thing remains high." This is especially true in Germany, Pew said, where 90 percent trust Obama, and in France (87 percent) and Great Britain (84 percent). In the United States, 65 percent of those surveyed said they thought Obama would do the right thing in world affairs.

"In most countries, especially in wealthier nations, President Barack Obama gets an enthusiastic thumbs-up for the way he has handled the world economic crisis," a summary of the findings said..."

I'm a supporter of poetic license - but if you are going to post poetic fantasy in the political forum, it's only fair to warn the reader.

You suggested that we haven't the respect of neighbors.

          Germany -  90% trust Obama
          France - 87% trust Obama
Great Britain -  84% trust Obama

He's less popular in Moslem countries.

          Egypt - 17%
          Turkey - 23%

          Facts. Try them some time.

I care little about the respect that other countries have for our president, I would rather they actually respect out of fear. Perhaps you can explain his dying popularity here.   South of our borders there is no respect. Canada is like a grouper fish attached to our economy. as long as Nafta is in place they love us.

" I would rather they actually respect out of fear."

OK. So you are a neocon. On the subject of ruling the world by fear. Hitler had an army thet could beat anyone, but he couldn't beat EVERYONE! When the USA and Russia and England combined forces, he could not survive. The policies of the neocons will unite the world against the US - economically - If China and Europe and the Middle-east unite against the USA with sanctions, we will go down in flames as German did.

Rome was able to rule an empire with fear, but those days are gone.

You don't have the faintest idea what a neocon is, do you Doug?  There is an actual definition of a neocon, which I sincerely doubt that ahorseback fits.

If ahorseback really is a former liberal who retains a moderate to liberal domestic policy, but has replace a fearful foreign policy with an aggressive military-oriented foreign policy, then I stand corrected.

I got this definition of neocon from urban dictionary.

"Slang - Neocons exist separated into two very distinct groups. The largest, group one, are the people below the 99th income percentile. They are religous and/or war-mongering blowhard lemmings who follow the second group; The second group is made up of the top one percent. They cut taxes for themselves, borrow trillions (second term pending), and their behavior is largely the subject of this blog. Of necessity, they pay Rove to pipe tabloid for the Rats. Lemmings rather. Whichever, they both work.
Vlugar - White bible thumping trash."

If that is where you get your knowledge, no wonder you are confused on the Constitution and American politics.

His "dying popularity" as you call it is no different than the ratings of other presidents in similar situations at this time during their first terms.

"At 44 percent, Mr. Obama's approval rating is similar to those of Bill Clinton (42 percent) and Ronald Reagan (42 percent) at comparable times in their presidencies. Mr. Obama's rating is slightly higher than Jimmy Carter's (38 percent).

Like Mr. Obama, these past presidents were plagued by economic troubles early in their presidencies - and Mr. Clinton attempted to reform health care. During the summer of 1982, President Reagan was trying to cope with a national unemployment rate of over 9 percent -- similar to the job situation Mr. Obama confronts today."

Here is the problem as I see it:

"A bigoted pastor who has assailed gays and Muslims is launching the "9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero" a mere two blocks from the World Trade Center site this Sunday but so far the project hasn't drawn a peep of protest from those who are outraged by the "ground zero mosque."

Hypocricy. Double Standards. No freedom of religion, speech, or access to pursuit of happiness...unless you are the "right" religion, color, or income bracket.
