Given the relentless tireless and ludicrously one sided attacks on Barack Obama from the right wing media and how he's responsible for everything that's wrong with the US (including plane crashes, typhoons, broken washing machines, stale bread and cold coffee)and especially the economy....
A thought struck me.
The Sub Prime Mortgage collapse and the whole robo signatures farce (where mortgage providers where signing blank forms in order to push loans through to people who clearly couldn't afford to take out such a mortgage)finally caved in during the fall of 2008.
Obama was elected to office in November 2008. Now it seems the whole SubPrime debacle played a major part in hammering the economy. Banks, financial Profiteers and Mortgage suppliers were falling over themselves to sell the whole SubPrime market to anyone who believed the hype. It was a short term opportunity for a few shysters to make a lot of money at the expense of a lot of people.
So how is it that Obama is getting the blame for things that happened before he took office? Did he personally cause the ruin of Fanny and Freddie? It couldn't have been his policies as he wasn't in government at the time of the collapse.
So have I missed something or do people just hate the president for another reason?
It would be good if the actual question I've posed could be answered without anyone referring to post Obama policies (where I accept he's failed on several fronts albeit with some deliberate obstacles put in his way).
The way it looks to me is that somebody got shot before Obama was given the gun to hold.
Oh right and you are clearly more open minded and an independent thinker and of higher intellect! You muct be because you're a liberal and all liberals know better than anyone about everything! LOL ! The arrogance of the left!
Actually, we were doing rather well until one of your heroes started a war.
The mess wasn't really caused by the mortgages per se. The mess was caused by greedy bankers packaging that junk up to sell to greedy and naive investors. The need for more junk to package had a part in that, too and the ease of borrowing attracted investors who just made it all worse.
The original idea was that if banks wanted to take the money of the poor, they ought to be willig to lend to them. If that had been the end of it, there never would have been a mortgage crisis at all even if housing did fall as it did. Greed caused all this.
Gosh, those poor old Republicans who had all branches sowed up...those poor innocent repubs were canoodled by Frank and Dodd....gosh, not very smart are they? That's reason enough to keep those dummy's out.
How can you trust such weak, stupid people in power?
Gee. I have once again been duped into reading a thread based on its clever and promising title. "What fun," I thought to myself. "We can have an ongoing flow of silly, ridiculous rants of consequences and personal foibles that Mr.Obama could not possibly have caused."
Well, I was right on the rant front, anyway. BTW there are some good lines in here .
For the record, could someone (perhaps Jim Hunter) please outline all these numbered rules so that I can refer to them appropriately? Sorry, I don't have all the amendments to the Constitution memorized any more than I have every chapter and verse of the Bible memorized. But if we are working within some kind of "rules of engagement" structure I'd like to know what those rules are. Fair enough? MM P.S. Obama -- is to blame for my cat puking on the rug this morning. Gaak!
