This is illegal and should be stopped right this minute. We do not allow any use of tax payers' money for propaganda. Of course this is no worse than the NEA using its funds to propagandize for the Obama-care and his other Socialist policies. How many laws can the man breeak and not be called on? Appearently, all of them that he feels to.

-"David Brock, the conservative turned liberal advocate, has recently garnered a considerable amount of press coverage for his attacks on Fox News for, among many other things, allegedly taking over leadership of the Republican Party. What the news coverage has ignored is his use of tax-free funds for his organization, Media Matters for America (MMA), for these attacks — a form of government support for activities that clearly do not merit tax-exempt status and that as a result infringe on Fox News' First Amendment rights.

MMA was originally established as an Internal Revenue Service Section 501(c)(3) organization, that is, an organization that can receive tax-deductible contributions to engage in educational activities. The more precise purpose was to counter alleged media bias and so to "identify occurrences of excessive bias in the American media, educate the public as to their existence, and to work with members of the media to reduce them."

What MMA actually is doing, however, moves far afield from identifying possible bias to mounting a campaign to undermine a major media outlet and to promote the Democratic Party and progressive causes associated with it. Mr. Brock himself has described this new strategy as "a war on Fox," an effort "to disrupt [Rupert Murdoch's] commercial interests" and look for ways to turn regulators against News Corp.'s media outlets."-

YOU ARE A JOKE! How's this...here is a few conservative organizations who are claiming 501(c)(3), while promoting conservative propaganda:
      Freedomworks
      Americans for Prosperity

      The Conservative Caucus

      American Conservative Union

Every single conservative group I can think of does this...claims 501(c)(3)...down to James O'Keefe's (yes, the same guy who SELECTIVELY edits videos to promote conservative ideals, gets caught on it, and yet you neocons still call them resources) BigGovernment.com.

So, come on Mason...by your own words....tell me they are breaking the law and are HORRIBLE. Hypocrite.

        Tex,

You make a good point but I could do the same with liberal sires. Fact is they all do it. It should stop. I am not happy my union spends tens of millions per year, not just during election time, in political support. Its not a matter if I gree or disagree with who they support, its a matter they are spending my retirement and benifits money. They are spending multi millions more than they recieve in union dues. Where does everyone think the money they spend comes from? They claim to be looking out for me, if so stop spending the money so it is there when I am entitled to recieve it.

I agree, but I didn't post a thread about how horrible and illegal it was, Mason did. Another example of his hypocrisy.

WAKE UP,YOU MISSED THE EXPOSE of Media Matters receiving tax payer grant money. Organizations that use taxpayer money to promote a political party and fund politician's campaigns should not receive federal grants.

If any of the conservative groups that you list are receiving taxpayer money, they should also be exposed and condemned.

    MEDIA MATTERS FOR AMERICA (MMA)
Self-described “progressive” media “monitor” which tracks content that “forwards a conservative agenda.”

The list of associates to Media Matters are groups of radical opinions of our  Government and the Constitution.

Again, you missed the entire thing. If you want to attack Media Matters, then go ahead and attack every single conservative organization you can think of...because they are doing it too.

... and if they are receiving tax money to do so, they should be shut down.

Sweet. I'd totally give you Media Matters for the myriad of conservative mainstays that have been doing this for years.
