What exactly are the guiding principles of the Democratic and Republican parties?  The Green Party, the Libertarian Party, and the Constitutional Party spell them out.     Please point me in the right direction, please.   The party platforms for those two (from the last presidential election) are confusing.

They've pretty much stuck to their principles all this time.

The Democrat Party Platform evolves with the wind.   Or rather, devolves.
And Obama isn't really representative of even the Democrat Party.  They went even further left off-kilter by nominating him.

Thank you.  That helps for the Republican Party.  The Democrat's values are still a mystery, although they do believe in centralized power judging from everything they want to do..

Possibly true.  It's consistent with the history I have read; but, I also believe money flows to power and influence.  That was Jefferson's basis for not wanting a centralized government, or a national bank..
