Dependence on government highest in history...

  1. SparklingJewel profile image67

this truly is a serious issue that does need to be dealt with. people will be at varying stages of the situation of being dependent on the scale of government help, but there is a lot that can be done to start to change it and help every one no matter where they are.

I lived through being one of those people that got stuck in the system of government help, and I can say that the system was not helpful to help me get out of it in many ways...it is a psychological nightmare and a literal funding blackhole if people aren't helped in ways that just handing them money can't make better

The reason that there is a dependence on government is because government has grown in both workforce numbers and in its scope. People don't have much choice when government usurps private sector functions and makes them government functions, like Obama Care, social security. medicare and more.

Well of course it is! It was planned that way!!

    Here we go:

2 unfunded wars, to benefit the war profiteers
Medicare part B, to benefit big pharma

Big tax cuts for very wealthy people: take money out of America and into private bank accounts

Tax breaks for business to take their business overseas: destroy the industrial, manufacturing base

Use media to paint the pres as black, racist, muslim anti-American to get the Tea Baggers in

Once elected, use positions to gut unions, and place your people in power

Refuse to do anything to help America

Wait until people are so desperate, that business can come back and people will take any job at any pay with no benefits! Simple!

But it won't work. America is on to it. Keep your stinking jobs right where they are--we can invent new ones.

Cleaner, meaner and greener: with plenty of bennies and a livable wage.

      LMC,

You missed the point and it was not planned that way, Obama is making it that way.

I'm beginning to believe it was planned that way but not by Obama. He's as clueless as the rest of us. Never one to buy into conspiracys, I'm just now understanding how this entire nation was founded on the New World Order, 'novus ordo seclorum' printed on our money. The idea of a new world order in the days of the American Revolution may have been a good thing but was meant to stay here, in the 'new world'. The fact that Free Masonry has literally been taken over by world heavyweights should be a secret to no one anymore, but suprisingly it is.

These men rule the country. Pres. Obama is reportedly not a Free Mason. Neither was W. But the power runs much deeper than the POTUS with their influence running everything to the ignorance of 'the untrustworthy public'.

No stand-off its your view. I will not break them all down, I do not have all day. The media is not against this President nor does the media make an issue over Obama's skin color. Obama and the Dems do that. But the media loves this President and do not want to see him go. He gives them more access and interviews than the last 20 President all put together. Obama does multiple interviews everyday including when he is on vacation. The media will cry when Obama is gone, what will MSNBC and CNN do then.

Depends on which media you are talking about. All presidents get media time....but some go to Fox, and others avoid it like the plague.

Clinton did not, Bush Did not, Only Obama does. Wonder why? Wonder why form day one Obama wanted Fox out of the reporter pool? Wonder why the President is doing all these online questions these day and not taking any in press conferences anymore? Because he wants control of the questions and answers, he could not control Fox, they would not allow him to give them questions or make them give him the questions in advance like the others do.

Yes they did! For crying out loud, Bush went on Fox all the time, and so did Cheney. Also they both went on Limbaugh to get smooched.

And Bush had his speeches and press conferences as well...as did Clinton, Bush daddy and Reagan before them.

Fox treated Obama with disdain...that reporter was interrupting and being a jerk.

Meanwhile, Bush played golf with Fox reporters, and their wives hung out...watch Outfoxed.

I think it's kind of telling that there are people who are against the whole "redistribution of wealth" thing that once lived off the government dollar.

"Tax breaks for business to take their business overseas: destroy the industrial, manufacturing base"

Easy solution: stop taxing companies so heavily for actually trying to keep jobs here. Why punish people for doing the right thing?

"Once elected, use positions to gut unions, and place your people in power."

Unions by an large are an outdated practice. They saved the American workforce a hundred ago, much like the horse and buggy enabled long distance travel. Today they're just another factor encouraging companies to take jobs elsewhere. The only people who disagree are union members.

lovemychrisposted 4 years ago in reply to this

Where do you get your info? Taxes on business are the lowest in 40 years.

Punish them for doing the right thing?

They rewarded them for taking the jobs away!!

Unions are needed now more than ever. As we see with the income inequality in America....owners CANNOT be trusted to do the right thing. Their one and only goal seems to be profit.

Who is it you are accusing of living off the gvt dollar?

Do you know why Obama was for the Boeing sale overseas but against Boeing at home? Because as part of the Boeing deal, Boeing has to open a plant overseas. Yea, Obama really wants to bring jobs home. He could care less about Americans going back to work, but he made sure some other country put their people to work.  Let me get my barf bag out. And how do you feel about what they told Gibson Guitar? Move overseas. Or how about that BS story on Masterlock. I bet you fell hook line and sinker over that one. In 1997 Master lock had over 1100 employees. that is full capacity at the plant. They opened a plant in China and let most of the workforce go. Then in 2000 they opened a manufacturing plant in Mexico. Now they claim they have brought jobs home and are operating at full capacity. Today Masterlock has 412 employees in the same plant, they never moved. And guess what, they still have plants in China and Mexico.

Obama has put more Americans back to work in his time than in all of Bushs. And it was during Bush that all of them left. And it has been with 0 help, and 100% obstruction from the House of Turds. So let me barf.

Not even close, not to mention the false job numbers Obama uses. Like when the Verizon strike ended, the jobs report shows 68,000 new jobs, they were not new, it was the people going back to work after the strike, or the 25,000 form the June report. They counted the 25,000 people that the auto plants did not lay off as new jobs. They only kept thier jobs over the summer because of the Sunami and the fact they needed to make more cars because of the shortage of cars coming out of Japan. Not layiing off and return from a strike are not new jobs. Only under Obamanomics does that work.

WSJ: "Total corporate federal taxes paid fell to 12.1% of profits earned from activities within the U.S. in fiscal 2011, which ended Sept. 30, according to the Congressional Budget Office. That's the lowest level since at least 1972. And well below the 25.6% companies paid on average from 1987 to 2008."

Without unions people would be working 18 hour days again and sweatshops would  appear. I agree the unions demands have gone out of control and needs to be revised.
The NAFTA agreement killed manufacturing in this country and Reaganomics brought the corporations more say and power...
Tax breaks for the wealthy did not trickle down to help the middle class at all.
Neither party is looking out for the people who supposedly elected them..only looking out for their own self interest.

Unions don't serve a purpose in the U.S. anymore. There are no sweatshops here, at least legally, and they would not reappear. Corporate America is too smart for that and there are policies in place in companies with integrity that protect the company as well as the employee.

That doesn't mean I'm in favor one way or the other with other things that go on in corporate America.

That also doesn't mean people don't get overworked. Go to any Mexican restaurant where the waiters are illegal. Their forced to work 6 days a week from opening to closing, with a break, for tips only.

The unions had their day. You are right, who knows where things would be if the unions did not come into play years ago. But now they do not look out for the workers, they want to control the businesses just like they want to control Washington.

It is not about concessions, it is about what they do with the money the collect and the power hungry people they have become. I want you to bookmark this conversation and others we have had i the past. In the near future all unions pension funds will be bailed out and put on the taxpayers to pay. When that happens and you cry about having to foot that bill instead of your water bill, just remember I told you it was coming. Remember about 6 months ago when i told you about many of the things coming due on Obamacare starting this year? You and many other blew me off, funny now how many of them wanted to know how I knew. Remember the one conversation when I said the Catholic church would have a fit when they realized about the contraception clause? Or about the homeowners having fits selling their homes over $250,000 and having to pay a tax for Healthcare? I do we are already slowly starting to hear rumblings about the health and benefits funds from the unions. Where do you think they get those tens if not hundreds of millions they spend on politics, hosting fund raisers, donating to candidates, paying for ads?  If you think it is dues, you are as crazy as those who try and sell you on it. Union workforce is only 8% of the entire work force. I am sure you can do the math yourself and see the dues collected do not come close.

You know AV...you read, but you don't really read.
            1. I was not complaing about my water bill...I was celebrating it!

And I already know about the pensions...our town has a fight over the police, teachers and fire all the time!

I work with a retired police officer. Tax payers part of his healthcare is $800.00 a month...he pays the other half.

But you know who always stands up for police and fire? The GOP/TP.
Ask Mittens...he put in a bill that allows police to take any college course whatsoever, and up their pay.

So--if you have a problem with unions, take it up with police and firefighters.

What should CEOs make, exactly? Minimum wage? They are managing and maintaining a (hopefully) successful company that hopefully creates a lot of other jobs too. If they were entrepreneurs they risked everything they had to do so. Sounds like they deserve to make millions to me. Not that there aren't bad companies and bad CEOs pulling way more than they deserve, but again, why punish the good CEOs just because they make the same amount as the bad ones?

Why does making a lot of money automatically make you evil? I'm seriously beginning to think that a lot of liberals view success as an unforgivable sin.

I'd also like to see a comparison of the payrates of the new jobs compared to those that were lost too. I remember an anecdote I read in another forum several years ago (talking about the Bush downturn; incidentally it is nowhere written that if you don't like Obama you must automatically like Bush and I don't know why people keep making that implication), where someone had gotten laid off from a $25/hr job and was now working retail making $10/hr. Technically that was a one-for-one reclaimed job, but when you adjust for pay rates it was actually 40% of a job. For all I know that's not the case at all with these job figures, but I'm skeptical.

Just think how much $$ workers save if they didn't pay union dues tongue now they're all mostly about pay hikes which strips more $$ from govt pursestrings. To refill the purse, some other program must lose out hmm employment laws just need a little more tweaking and maybe one can do away with unions?

Eventually the unions will self-destruct. They pay out more in pensions to retired, and therefore nonproductive, workers than they take in in dues. Just like SS, more goes out than comes in.
