Obama was in favor of same-sex marriage in 1996.  Then his position changed, and now his views are "evolving."  As a liberal, I find this to be a pathetic, vacuous ploy in order to avoid upsetting people who need to catch up to the 21st century.

Show some courage Obama, and come out openly in favor of marriage equality, and stop acting like a "moderate Republican."

Eh? I'm a Republican Moderate! With that said, one of my largest problems with Obama is the fact that I perceive him to lack the courage and conviction to stand by many of the promises he made.

A lot of times yes.  He is a politician first.  It's sad.  He has so much potential, but he doesn't live up to it.

However, there is a possibility marriage equality can be had if he gets a second term.  There is no chance of that with Romney.

He certainly needs to show more courage. In regards to same-sex marriage and other, what some would say, "Socialist" left leaning positions. I wish he was a little more like FDR in this time of economic despair. FDR's a man that accomplished some tough goals and helped alleviate the problems of the common man.

FDR called bankers fat cats.  He was not afraid to go after corrupt corporations.

I can't even imagine Obama doing that.  Maybe he will realize he needs to stand up and fight back.

He needs to show more courage on so many fronts I cannot cover them all here. I agree with Sooner28 when he said "He has so much potential, but he doesn't live up to it." It's so sad, he has some good ideas but it seems like he doesn't push hard enough. When he's under attack it seems he is often overly nice or simply ignores even highly public critics. That is not a trait I want to see in the President of the United States.

The campaign is starting up, so his rhetoric will probably become more inspiring as the election gets closer, just like it was last time.  Obama has done some good things.

DADT was ended; The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was passed; our health care system is slightly more fair than it was before; and student loans are now out of the hands of banks.

More needs to be done though.

I think Obama has stood up plenty. Since the start. Banking reform, credit card reform, consumer protection agency, dodd frank, he has told banks to get out of the student loan profit business, told rich people they need to pay more taxes......what more do you want?

And what has been the result?

The other side says, "He's a socialist out to destroy America."
Instead of coming down on  Obama, why don't you stand with him and make your voices stronger?

He is doing the right things in my view....and facing the wall of all walls....RW lunatics. Funded by heartless business men with a never-ending supply of cash with which to buy people, votes and propaganda-spewing media.

They call this the fight of their life...well it's the fight of our life too.

Better stand strong with Obama or you will get the other side.

Think 2000-2006. If you liked it---more power to you. If it was the most horrifying, sadistic, immoral representation of this county you have ever experienced.....You better do everything you can to stop them from gaining power again.

"A nation that...year after year spends more $ on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death" -- MLK

What's Ryans plan, that RMoney endorses?

More on military, cuts in social uplift.......gay, women, immigrant rights taken away.

wooo-hoooooo all for more $$ in uber rich pockets.

    Moral Decay.
    IMHO

"Never has Wisconsin had such a fetid, corrupt governor."

    "Obama's Super-PAC: $9m so far; Romney's Super PACs: $100m+ so far."

WE are insane. Think what GOOD that money could do!
