Obama is a member of the New party according to new documents revealed by Acorn. What do you think, is it true?

I question the documents and it really makes no difference. Obama is a registered Democrat, he is going to be the nominee of that party and if elected I do not expect his politics to change his politics are views. ACORN does not have a stellar history. ACRON was in the middle of an investigation about the misuse of federal funds. Obama called for the investigation, and according to various news sources you can look up, the Justice Dept. would not, the FBI, did, Congress waiver, etc.

Vote for or against Obama based on what you think he has actually done or not done for the country. Do not be misguided by outside groups with narrowly focused agendas.

Not much to question when they have the minutes of the meeting held.

"Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party’s Chicago chapter read as follows:
Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party “Candidate Contract” and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.

Consistent with this, a roster of the Chicago chapter of the New Party from early 1997 lists Obama as a member, with January 11, 1996, indicated as the date he joined."

Tell me, have your political or social views have changed any over the last 12 to 16 years. I cannot begin to count the number of elected officials who joined organizations when they were younger, only to publicly, if not privately to regret it.

I am not pleased with the President's performance. My vote will not be cast on the basis of a set of minutes from a meeting held 16 years ago.

At the core of my values, persona, political or social views have not changed over the 12 to 16 years. I am who I am, I do not intend to be anyone else. That is why plastic people could never be my friend.

I have known many people will change their political views over the years, but at the base they still have the same core values even though they changed parties. I think that is why there is a tea party, or blue dog Democrats, or whatever else you want to call people who have mixed views.

In Obama's case, while he wears the label of Democrat yet seems to embrace extremely strong social, some say Marxist, policies. So when you look in his past and see the organizations he comes from despite trying to say he's a Democrat, the past reveals his core values

The new party was also not socialist though. I repeat as I did on the other nearly identical forum thread, I am a socialist, and he is not, ask the socialists on Hub pages and you will get the same response, try John Holden or Jandee for example, socialists don't even consider him a leftist, but actually more of a conservative than he is a socialist.

His most radical move was what, health care? which most of the world expects from it's right wing candidates.

I don't know about any documents.  I do know his governing style hasn't been liberal.

I do not have any idea what you mean by your comment. A comment without an explanation is not much benefit to the discussion.

My point was that what Obama believed, supported or liked may not be exactly how he views the same issues today. In other words, he has possibly changed his mind on some issues or altered his views. If anyone says he should be consistent, they they are giving up hope of compromise. A lot of people like things the first time they see or read them, only to change their views after more careful study.

I do not know what the President is thinking about the ACRON of today and the ACRON of 16 years ago.

You remember when the Black Panthers were known for rioting and now they are known for their peaceful activities aimed at helping communities. Times and people do change. So, even the President has the right to alter his viewpoint or to completely disregard something he heard 16 years earlier.

Obama is a Martian. Why do you think he scrapped the moon program in favor of a mission to Mars?

(although, I always read that the Martians are blue-eyed and blond-haired, like me.)

Maybe he gets it from his moms side wink

But didn't Obama deny ever being a member of the New Party? I think "Fight the Obama Smears" site said he was never a member of the NP and this is just a smear tactic. I'd like to know if there's any real evidence - you know, from a trusted media source. Wait...is that an oxymoron?? lol

      Habee,

From the documents found at Acorn:

Wow...what a selection we have this year!

It is absolutely true that as human beings, we do change our views through the years, however, since Obama began his Presidency by quickly incorporating a raft of avowed socialists and communists into his tzar mix, i can see no evidence of his altered position. Like many other politicians, he is well aware of public opinion, and it was only after he was advised of the public disapproval that he, (or they) decided that they should bow out of the picture, just like his former pastor and mentor.

We know you are a Socialist. That is so sad. Socialism is the spread of misery. Socialism is taking from people who work hard and giving to people who do no work at all.

I tend to see that you like to be around people like that.

    So sad.
