The Race Card Is Not A Full Deck
So far I have managed to remain silent on the issue of illegal immigration. However, now it has become personal. While traveling across this vast nation, I was informed, by several white Anglo Saxon males, that those of my kind are not welcome here and I should go home to my country.
I responded that this is my country. I was born here, as were my parents and my grandparents and their parents, etc, etc. He responded that I have a messican last name and I should go back to Mexico.
His second thought was, “Oh my God, your whole family is here?” “Do you have any idea how much you are costing my government?” he asked.
I told him that I did not, but that most in my family are college graduates and each of us makes sixty to eighty thousand dollars a year.
He said “See what I mean! I only get about $1,500 a month including food stamps and here you are a Messicon getting eighty thousand dollars a year!” “Is there no justice?”
I decided to just walk away. But I did get his name and did a little homework on my own.
His father was a stanch supporter of the KKK. While he does not support the KKK he does support a “white America”. When he was a child the family was raised on government welfare. Now that he is grown and has a family of his own he does not work but depends on handouts from friends, churches and yes the federal government.
He firmly believes the border should be shut down because of all the drugs that are getting into the country. He knows about this because in his younger years he was a drug addict. The government paid for his drug rehab. He still does drugs now and then but only for “medicinal purposes”. Besides the more drugs are let in, the less profit he makes on the little bit of weed he sells to make ends meet.
He is an unwavering conservative Republican. He firmly believes Sarah Palin will be elected president and save this nation from the unwanted illegals and other non-whites that are out to destroy this great nation.
He is loyal to the party platform, especially the anti-abortion plank. He steadfastly believes it is his God given right to have a say as to what goes on with any woman’s vagina.
He beleives the anti-immigration plank is necessary for the economic well being of this nation. All non-white immigrants only come here to suck the life out of this great nation and therefore should not be allowed.
Although he is against the killing of the unborn he is all for the death penalty and killing of solders during times of war and killing in defense of one’s home or property as these types of killing are permitted by the Bible.
He complains that the Blacks (affirmative action) and illegals are taking American jobs from the white people but when pressed will tell you he cannot work right at the moment. He does not have a job because the Blacks have all the good government jobs and the Messicans have all the factory jobs. Besides his bad back does not allow him to stand or sit too long, and also prevents him from lifting anything heavy.
This past year I have traveled across this great nation at least three times. The above does not change much. I have encountered the same story in every part of the nation from California to Main, from the Dakotas to Texas.
My opinion is that the American people are living in fear. The American people are living with a fear that has no face, a fear that is nameless, and a fear that has yet to be identified.
What I saw and encountered were feeble attempts at putting a face or name on that fear. Yes it is true; we are living in fearful times. The economic situation seems to get worse at times. Jobs are hard to find. Millions are losing their homes. Wars and police actions are putting our young people at risk. Terrorist have indeed managed to put fear into our everyday lives.
After all is said and done I am still an American citizen. This is still my country. And I will defend my country by whatever means necessary.
Fellow Americans, you have nothing to fear. Do not be afraid. Our great nation has survived much worse; but only if we stick together. UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL. Do not let economic circumstances divide us. Do not let terror divide us. We are all one people - Americans
