What does it take to become a good writer of English, if English is your second language? Answer: everything, unless you are a genius. I’m not a genius, so this sentence resulted from 10 years of effort.
I began learning English when I was 21. Back then I couldn’t afford private lessons, a computer, an electronic dictionary, and a teacher, but I got a grammar book and a bilingual dictionary. I didn't care how hard it was because I liked the way English words sounded when I said them, and I got excited every time I understood an English word or expression I heard on TV..
One of my goals is to become the best writer of American English born in my country. It's hard, but not impossible--Polish-born Joseph Conrad, who began learning English in his yearly twenties, is regarded as one of the greatest writers of English.
English language is my life journey that has, so far, got me a U.S. college degree, a U.S. residence, and decent living. But what I enjoy most is that I'm actually paid to write in English.
I’ve made many mistakes during this language journey—like most beginners, once I even thought I knew English. Now I want to share my experience with other second language writers and everyone else interested in writing English well.

Hey, we can do it :) Well, to tell you the truth most of my commercial copy is written by ghost writers. Yet I can communicate informally :)
