"The only true failure is to not try at all"
That’s the motto for my career and life. I’ve tried lots of things .. and failed at many things. But I just keep trying!
I operate at the intersection of business, technology, creativity and digital media.
I think I’m truly one of the rare breed whose career has intersected all of them.
Recently I jumped on board with digital media by developing, producing and hosting a podcast series for the SOL Film Festival (www.thesolfilmfestival.com). SOL is a wonderful intimate film festival that takes place annually in Norfolk, VA. You can access my SOL interviews by clicking on the Jukebox button on the home page.
I’m expanding my digital media presence with a few audio podcast ventures. The next project is a series that focuses on the emerging growth business community in the Mid-Atlantic region.
I got my start in media a few years ago when I launched a business TV show called The Looney Executive™. The show aired for 4 years in the Dayton, OH market. I interviewed dozens of entrepreneurs, financiers and investors, biz experts and government reps. It was big fun!
On the creative side, I liked the name The Looney Executive™ so much that I’ve decided to build a business-focused brand around it, including unique and compelling characters, adventure tales and perhaps another blog or two.
As a technologist, I worked as an entrepreneur, contract consultant and project manager on more than 20 tech projects with a value over $20,000,000. These included web site development, Internet, network integration and e-learning projects.
Recently, I leveraged my tech background to hunt fast-growth North American firms for London, England. I made contact with several interesting "Moguls of Tomorrow".
These are the people leading start-ups in areas such as online advertising, video gaming, social networking, RF communications, mobile content and other hot Web 2.0 sectors. Occasionally, I’ll see an article or video interview featuring one of “My Moguls!”
Finally, as a pretty decent public speaker, I’ve facilitated seminars, workshops and courses for over 10,000 executives, managers and other professionals. Topics included soft skills and technology issues.
But frankly, my favorite topics focus on the battles being fought, the stakes being waged and the strategies being deployed in the Tech, Internet, Media, and Entertainment sectors!
I’d be happy to hear from you (during my downtime from slaying the business dragon of course. Don’t laugh. Have you ever tried slaying a dragon … any kind of dragon … even a really small one?).
