I like to write and I like to build websites. That's what's so great about HubPages, it's like building a whole bunch of mini websites. Very fun!

At 17 years old (I looked about 12), I was awarded a music scholarship to the University of Oregon, but dropped out after two months to go on the road as a professional musician - drummer. It was the only thing I'd ever wanted to do. I hated school while I was forced to be there, but later discovered that I really enjoyed the simple act of learning and enrolled in South Bay Business College, then Long Beach Edison Tech, where I was on the Dean's list. I attended these schools not for a new career option, but simply to "learn new stuff."

Eleven years ago (as of 2008), at age 40, I retired from music as a living. I got sick of bars and sick of being on the road. I found myself longing for corny things like "Routine" and "Stability" and I was very fed up with the general mentality of being a nightclub musician.

Since then, I've had numerous articles and letters in various local papers and a past bi-weekly column, titled Grey Matters, in a Forest Grove newspaper.

When I'm not working or exercising, I'm a hopeless computer geek.  I actually LIKE Windows Vista.  I love RTS (RealTimeStrategy) and RPG (Role Playing Games) computer games, sending and answering email (typically with family) and exploring the net or my own computer workings.  I'm a media-junkie and a very happy bachelor.

I love the music I grew up with but listen to new rock.  I've never been one of those over 30s or 40s (or 50s!) who only listens to oldies - there's always good music and talent emerging and I want to hear it.  The stations I typically listen to are KNRQ (90s alternative and new rock) and KWAX (local access, classical).  I like TV (especially the History Channel and Discovery Channel), movies, reading, writing, audio books (while walking), unusual music (like Deep Forest and Gothic classical), cooking and numerous other things I can't think of at the moment... but you get the idea.

I will write a basic idea of my daily life. You are right, it is interesting to see how diversified we are as a people living in one country, let alone, how diversified we are as a world. It's good to see so many people on this site with different ideas, that can work through their differences and have an adult conversation on any given subject, even when they disagree.
