I am a 3/8 second generation westernized Inupiat Eskimo, Inupiats range from the north western coast of Alaska to Siberia, and since it seems that now a days no one is a full blood anything I am also 1/8 Scot, 1/4 Blackfoot and 1/4 Irish.
I grew up all over the United States and Europe (mainly Germany) as my father was in the military.
In my life I've worked as a Drug and Alcohol Rehab counselor in Dual Diagnosis, an art teacher and a cook, although I graduated college as an Income Tax Accountant.
I was widowed by my first husband at 27 and remarried at 39 this husband with whom I had 2 more children to add to the 5 from before. I found out I was pregnant with each one when I lost up to 20 lbs within the first month of pregnancy because as the Docotor explained to me, my body can not digest modern processed foods.
My eldest 32 year old daughter recently got out of the military and has resumed her college career studying linguistics.
My second daughter age 30 was a concert cellist from the age of 14 she is now a full time wife and mother and part time home health care worker.
My eldest son is a cook like his father and some day wants to open his own restuarant.
My 3rd daughter works in a pharmacy.
My 4th daughter helps her husband run his families ranch which he inherited from his father in Oklahoma. She also works outside of the ranch to support it as any small rancher/farmer has to these days.
6 years ago after leaving my second husband my 2 youngest sons were diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome after being misdiagnosed with ADHD and then misdiagnosed once again as Bi-polar. After the diagnosis with Asperger's Syndrome I have done everything in my power to make sure these boys get every kind of therapy that I can find for them that the Indian Health Service will pay for, since the ex has not provided the medical insurance that he was court ordered to do. Though from speaking to other parents of children with Asperger's Syndrome medical insurance does not cover most of thier childrens therapies.
There were contra-indications that the Doctors should have told me about before innoculating my children who now have Asperger's Syndome. "Children diagnosed with autism today have much in common with the children described in A Shot in the Dark (now published by Putnam and available on amazon.com), who reacted neurologically to DPT vaccine in the 1970s and 1980s. Many of the DPT vaccine injury cases in the book revealed children with a personal and/or family history of allergy, particularly milk allergy. Some had been vaccinated while they were sick with a coinciding viral or bacterial infection. Others were on antibiotics or recently completed antibiotic therapy before vaccination. In addition to neurological damage following DPT vaccination, many were also left with chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction and new allergies, as well as autoimmune disorders such as asthma. A personal or family history of inflammatory autoimmune disorders appeared to outweigh a history of neurological disorders in terms of being a high risk factor for reacting to DPT, although a history of convulsions in the family was also a high risk factor." My family has a history of being allergic to milk, my eldest son the cook almost died from an allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) when I was weaning him from breast to bottle. I later found out from my grandmother that my father had to drink mares milk as a toddler because he was also allergic to cows milk.
My brother and my 4th daughter, the rancher, have psoriasis which is an auto immune disorder and my 3rd daughter, the pharamacy worker, has eplilepsy - a siezure disorder.
When the youngest was a year old we moved to Oklahoma from Alaska he quickly became ill with asthema the Doctor told us he was allergic to the wheat dust in the air.
All of these contra indications and not a single word of warning from a single Doctor!
Concerned Citizen has told me that I am irresponsible for having so many children and that my children will not contribute anything to society.
1) My adopted Grandfather was an interpreter at the Nuremburg Trials he is the inspiration for my eldest daughters study of linguistics.
2) My second daughter has plans to resume her music career as soon as her children are grown, you see unlike rock musicians it doesn't matter how old you are if you play classical music.
3) My 1st son has future plans to open his own restaurant as stated before.
4) My 3rd daughter only has a few months left working at the pharmacy before she qualifies for a full scholarship to medical school.
5) My 4th daughter being a rancher helps to feed this country!
6) The 2 with Asperger's Syndrome already show leanings towards becoming engineers and scientists, like my father,
And last but not least there are only 155,000 Eskimos in the entire world, spread mainly through 6 of the northern countries. Maybe one of my two aspies will stop the further extinction/eradication of my peoples, and the destruction of our lands in the arctic.
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the NIH (USA) estimates that between 30 and 50 million Americans are lactose intolerant. This includes an estimate of lactose intolerance affecting 75% of African-Americans and 90% of Asian and Native Americans.
http://www.foodreactions.org/intolerance/lactose/prevalence.html
It’s been shown that 2/3 of the worlds population is allergic, intolerant or sensitive to cows milk.
There are 3 possible negative reactions to a food that can occur:
1) a sensitivity
2) intolerance
3) an allergy
An allergy unlike the other two reactions brings the bodies immune system into play. The body sees the offending food as an enemy to be destroyed the worst possible reaction can be anaphylactic shock/anaphylaxis.
Anaphylaxis comes on quickly and can be fatal. This is a medical emergency and requires immediate medical attention. For anyone experiencing anaphylaxis, epinephrine should be given right away followed by a call to 911 for further treatment and transfer to a hospital.
The trouble with this is the very first time a person suffers from an allergic reaction may be the time they suffer anaphylactic shock and there is no epinephrine at hand.
