I am a sahm mom of 8, passionately interested in...well..my interests! My husband, Marc, and I are restoring a 100 year old farm house, homeschooling the six kids still at home, raising Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats, and trying to change our lives and those around us by the decisions and choices we make daily. I love reading, spinning fiber, sewing, cooking, writing, painting, crafting, antiquing...and just about anything shiny can grab my interest for a bit..Well maybe I am not that bad.
Marc and I have been married for 29 years, we are best friends, life partners, soul mates, and sometimes known affectionatly as the gestapo amongst our children. He and I met in Monterey California at the Presidio, while we were both in the military going to language school.
I have a weakness for chocolate and LUSH bath products..and soap boxes. Welcome to my life. :)
One of my favorite quotes is:
As in old times they who dwelt on the heath
remote from towns were backward to adopt the doctrines
which prevailed there, and were therefore called heathen
in a bad sense, so we dwellers in the huckleberry pastures,
which are our heath lands, are slow to adopt the notions
of large towns and cities and may perchance be
nicknamed huckleberry people.
from the Journal (December 30, 1860) Thoreau

Mary,
Our lives are amazingly similar. I'm a SAHM. I, too, have homeschooled all of my children. I met my husband while in the military, and I suspect that you and I were in the same military 'category'. We've been married 20+ years. I am also attempting to restore a house that is almost 100 years old. And I've always wanted goats! Are you my twin?
I'm going to check out your blogs, too.

I wish you lot's of look on restoring your 100 year old house. You sound like a very busy woman and I think a lush bubble bath is well deserved. I enjoyed reading your articles especially on how to use a green tomatoe cause normally I would just pitched them in the trash cause I thought they weren't ripe but not anymore.. Thanks for the tips..
