I'm a native Marylander, born in historical Laurel sometime ago, mostly when dinosaurs roamed the earth -- lol! Does that mean I'm as old as the earth? Nah, not really. I'm 49 years young with the mental attitude of a 22 year old. I've been married going on 27 years in August, and yes, I got married at birth -- lol, not really, but I married about 6 weeks after my 22nd birthday.
My hubby is a wonderful man to tolerate some of the antics I pull. I have two sons, a golden retriever, her name is Desert Rose, we call her Rosie for short, and a 12 week old female Siberian Husky, her name is Cheyanne Dakota. Also, I have 3 cats, Jasmine, Jessica, and White Paws. Well now you've gathered I'm an animal lover. Of course I love kids, as well.
After spending roughly 26 years in Corporate America, after the last reorganization, I decided to go back to college and major in Web Design/Illustration with a minor in English. I will also be expecting my first grandchild in October 2008. Sheesh, that really blows my mind, I'm not what you'd call the grandmother type. I'm like too young!
As for my personality, I'm outgoing, friendly, a flirt with the opposite sex (it's in my genes),but I don't step over that fine line. I have a quick wit, sense of humor, and normally patient, except when someone has poor manners, (my mom was from the South if that explains it, and my dad from California). I believe that children, the handicapped, the elderly, and animals should be loved and protected, not to mention friends and family.
I love writing, whether it's short stories, poetry, novellas, or a novel it doesn't matter. I'm what you'd call the creative sort or a right brainer. I love to read, write, music, theater, art, musuems, plays, movies, history, photography, design, and antiques. I enjoy traveling, sailing, horseback riding, hiking, and escaping to the beach whenever I can.
I will fight injustice, and if someone needs help, I'll be there. I'm an optimist, so yes my glass is half full. That doesn't mean that I wear rose colored glasses either, I just prefer to look at the lighter side of life, think about it, we can touch others lives in a positive manner and make a difference, yes that's idealism, although I do have some common sense contrary to what my hubby sometimes thinks. We compliment each other, he's an engineer, which is very analytical, and I'm very creative. It doesn't mean that I don't have a temper when I'm pushed too far. I'm also a romantic, and have champagne taste on a water budget, so yeah, I guess you could say I'm a little bit complex, but who isn't? People are welcomed into my home with a hug, a warm smile, and ears or a shoulder to lean on in tough times. If you ask for an opinion you'll get it, I normally find tact or diplomacy works, but there are times you just have to be blunt to get the message across, hopefully without hurting someone in the process. I'm stubborn and independent.
So if you want to get to know me, then send me an email, I'm very people oriented, and look forward to talking to you!
