Born in Camden, north London in 1946 (when the area was still called St Pancras), attending schools in Chelsea, mainly because my grandmother thought he should mix with “a better sort of child” in SW3.
Having not done too well at school I left at 15 to enlist in the Army as a Junior Leader. I later transferred to the Regular Army at 17 ½ serving until my discharge in 1969. Regular Army service was followed by a short period with an auto electrical business in Portsmouth until I joined IBM UK in 1969 working in various roles until taking voluntary redundancy in 1992.
After mixed fortunes in the computer industry I eventually found myself working in local government until my retirement and relocation to Ibiza in 2007.
