I began reading at the tender age of five or six, and learned to love all the possibilities literature would bring to my life. It was my dream in elementary school to be a famous and talented writer, and by the third or fourth grade I had already written two plays, being told by my teacher that I would be just such a writer one day. I attempted my first book at the age of twelve, and only gave it up due to the pressure from a jealous friend.
With this as a base, I have added an ongoing study of philosophy and theology. Life has not always been kind to me, and I’ve made more than my share of mistakes. Still, combining experience of monastic life, military life, a life of tramping, and first hand activity in the lives of the mentally ill, I realized the wide variety of people and happenstance in these periods of my life, when combined with a deep and sober reflection, would be conducive to self expression through literature which I learned to love from a young age.
I admit to some greenness behind the ears, and there is much yet to learn in the art of writing. However, it would be a shame to let the years of different and varied experiences, not counting the ones not of this world, to go to waste. It is my hope some small part of my writings will serve as an aid to others, if not from my grammar, then at least from my passion and suffering.
