I'm a parent of three- a pair of boy/girl twins and a singleton daughter.  I live in Portland, Oregon, okay, in the burbs.  In my former life, I was a social worker specializing in mental health and medical issues in children.  I have a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Washington University in St. Louis.  I'm returning to my love of writing after a sabbatical.

At any given moment, there are 12 mammals residing in our household:  5 people, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 rodents (yes, they were invited to stay).  I've been surrounded my animals my entire life.  I've have professional experience with animals as well as volunteer experience in homeless shelters. I love 'em, can't get enough of them (much to my husband's chagrin).

I'm staying at home with my beautiful children for now.  I'm getting more serious about my writing.  They're getting a little older now, so I'm not constantly on diaper, "dear God what was that crash?", and please tell me they're not "waltzing" with the cat patrol...  I love poetry, have been writing since I was 7.  It will always have a special place in my heart.  But, any writing will do for me, I love it all.

Hi W.S.! I just had to join your fan club as we are walking the same path through life. I'm in school to be a social worker and plan to also get a masters degree. I also write some hubs about addiction and would like substance abuse issues to be my "specialty" when I graduate. This is a second go around career wise for me as I'm in my 40's. I finally feel like I've decided what I want to be when I grow up :-) Plus, you live in my favorite state - Oregon! Glad to be your fan!
