Coin Collecting does not have to be expensive. A person can put together a nice collection of older coins by collecting more common dates, newer coins (like state quarters), and coins that are circulated. The best thing is to focus the collection. Collect lincoln pennies or buffalo nickels, mercury dimes, or washington quarters. Once you see whether it is for you and if finances allow, expand into rarer coins. Remember this though. You will rarely get prices listed in guides. This is usually what you pay in a coin store. Check ebay to get an idea what coins sell for.
