Relocating to North Carolina: My husband and I are thinking of moving to NC.(We currently live in the cold Northeast) Has anyone else relocated to NC? What are the pros and cons?

Good or bad will remain every where like the existence of day and night. Of course the place of birth is most sacred to one’s life. The choice of living in a place, particular for a family depends upon to the facility of the family member available there which is something of individuality. There is little scope for others to take part in the choice of individual decision.

I lived in extreme east TN and traveled to NC a lot. I also have family that lives in different areas of NC. I can tell you there is a lot of diversity geographically and a LOT of outdoor activities. I know their tax rate is high and their highways not in as good shape as they should be with that tax base.

I live in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. If you do Google Earth, you'll see that the island has the Atlantic on one side (One of the best beaches on the East Coast is a bicycle ride away.) and the Intracoastal Waterway on the other. I live on the waterway side of the island and I wake each morning to the sounds of birds skimming over the waves, splashing into the water for mullet, the wind whipping the sail of a passing boat and the distant bells of boats shrimping in the channel. It is beautiful, peaceful and uncrowded. That is, until tourist season. Then it is a madhouse on the Atlantic side. On this side it is calm year round.

Hi Susan, I grew up in North Carolina, and though I live in the Northern Virginia/DC area now, I still am in love with the state. It has mountains and the beach, and some really nice cities: Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Asheville, Wilmington, and of course then there are the quaint, smaller towns, such as Salisbury. The nice thing about the weather is that the state has seasons. There is not much snow, and a really annoying aspect of the weather is that it can get really humid. Relocated here 2 years ago in October of this year, a slice of heaven and well worth the move. Came up from
