As matryx stated, people tend to put way too much emphasis on page rank.
Page rank is a nice way to show prospective buyers or business partners that your site is well established and respected by Google, but websites can rank fine without having a high page rank or even any page rank at all.
It is important to remember that the Toolbar Page Rank, which is what you see in your Google Toolbar, is not your actual page rank. Google only updates Toolbar Page Rank every few months, but they are constantly updating your actual Page Rank. This is one of the reasons why it is important to not get too hung up on PR.
BTW, sorry to respond to a 5 month old thread, but it showed up in one of my Hubs and peaked my interest.

Every sites owners want good page rank of their site because it helps in making the site image and reputation in the market. We see toolbar page rank which is not actual google updates the site's page rank on daily basis. We see updated page rank after 3 months.
Don't run about Page Rank depends on your quality outbound links and some useful and unique content on site.
Page Rank is google trademark. Page Rank has been patented by Google in 2005 from Stanford university by giving 1.8 million shares of google in exchange of this deal

high pagerank doesn't matter because for me, people first then Google or Yahoo. If your site got PR4 it's enough than ever.

Yahoo is essentially losing the market share. Thus to shoot for a high Yahoo page rank isn't nearly as critical as a high Google page rank.
