I'd love to answer this with a hub, but I've never even been to Florida and haven't the faintest idea what most of the trees listed on the native plants lists I found even look like, let alone how they grow.
Wanted to say, though, that the Florida Native Plant Society has some very comprehensive lists of native trees and other plants for all regions of Florida on their website that you might find helpful. miamidade.gov also has a pretty extensive list of native trees for that area on their website - looks like it's something they're pushing heavily right now.
