I want to cook a nice meal for my girlfriend but I'm not a great cook! Any suggestions or recipes?

For a side dish, saute vegetables - olive oil or butter in a pan over medium head, then 1 or 2 cloves of chopped garlic, then sliced mushrooms, then chopped baby spinach, then fresh chopped tomatos just at the end. It goes well with rice or pasta. Some of the high-end grocery stores have a prepared foods section. It includes chicken, fish, and meat that's already breaded and seasoned. You can ask the person behind the counter how to cook it. I found how-to-saute-chicken on hubpages, and I'm going to try that.

If your girlfriend likes pasta, you can't go wrong with that. It's inexpensive, it doesn't take long to put together, and it's hard to mess it up.

With a loaf of garlic bread, salad, and a couple glasses of wine (red if you use a tomato or meat sauce, white if you use pesto, olive oil, or alfedo sauce), that will make a very nice meal. Furthermore, your girlfriend will appreciate the effort, even if you didn't really put that much into it. (Because pasta dinners are, after all, easy.)
