Pets are a responsibility and it is important to take it seriously and own responsibly.

Do you have the time to take care of the pet? Pets need lots of love, some more or less depending on the pet.

Do you have space? Pets need space too!

Will the pet fit in with your family? Don't get a pet if it won't fit in with your family or other pets.

Do you have the money to take care of a pet? Pets need food, toys, water, etc... just like little kids. Make sure you are in a financially secure place that you can guarantee your pet a life with you.

It's true pets are a huge responsibility. One of the most important things is to make sure that you do your homework beforehand and choose the right pet for you and your lifestyle.

I found that the pet guide released by Volume One magazine with their last issue was very useful. Check it out on their site here:http://volumeone.org/magazine/issue/129/17.html
