' Cultural richness'- is not an objective concept.That means, it depends on what one means by being culturally rich. Mny so -called sub-altern cultures also have have some very good cultural displays like-folk arts, paintings and folk music.

How can you say- Karnatak music is inferior to Hindusthani music? How can you say the 'miniature painings ' of Rajasthan artists is inferior to mural painings seen in Ajantha caves? How can we say the Ellora cave temples are good and Dilwara temples are less worthy?Each one has its own distinctive praiseworthy characteristics.And, that is the greatness of this ''Wonder of the world " called India.

One lined answer to this question is -there are many culturally rich places in India.

I think all of India is culturally rich. Every different state / city has its own traditions, cultures, festivals. It really is quite an experience.

India is 2500+Km from North to South

1500+ from east to west;

To visit India, choices are;

Religious & monuments-

Land at Delhi- > Agra> Varanasi> Rishikesh> Gaya

Palaces & Monuments;

Delhi> Agra> Rajastan (Jaipur, Udaipur, jaisalmer, etc)

Land in Chennai;

Temples- Madras> Kanchipuram> Pondy> Tanjore> Madurai> Rameshwaram> Kanyakumari

Land in Cochin/ Trivandrum (Kerala);

Beaches & Temples;

Kanyakumari> Trivandrum> Kovalam> Kottayam> Guruvayoor> Palani

Land in Mumbai; leave mumbai immediatelly if you seek cultural!!

Beaches, temples, Nature

Mumbai> Mahabaleshwar> Pune> Goa> Udupi

Goa to Udupi is the most scenic route I have ever seen (west coast road) better travel by local train in day time to enjoy the scenary

Real road is horrible

Delhi may be called the most culturally developed place. It was a capital for long period since Mugal period. There are many buildings still in existence in Delhi which signifies the cultural tradition of the place.
