Karma means "action." The common usage of this word is meant to convey the law of cause and effect. When something we don't like happens in our lives, we tend to think of this as our "bad" karma coming back to us. When something we do like happens, we tend to think of it as our "good" karma playing out. And there you have it. What goes around comes around. The difficulty here is that thinking of everything in these terms affects our self worth, especially if we're looking a "bad" karma. But seeing the things that happen to us as "good" or "bad" karma playing out has more to do with what we like and what we don't like. How can we even be sure some of that "bad" karma isn't really "good" karma that we just don't happen to like this time around?

Most of us have been somewhere before this lifetime and, thinking ourselves to be the cause of action, we reap long credit and debit columns. As long as we stay in this state of "doer-ship" the most we can hope for is a balanced account.
