it depends on if they are good listeners with other things or not! if they are good listeners, get eye level with them, explain that it's not nice to bite and tell them that it hurts. explain to them that it makes you sad and then ask them if they like being sad. they of course will say no and then explain to them thats what it does to you when they bite. it should work with all kids. take them by the hand while explaining things to them. its a real connection and they will understand. along with what joy has said, determine the cause for the biting. it will help! ask yes or no questions to get your answer on the reason for the biting.
