If I won a million dollars I would donate some to charity. Money is energy and needs circulating.
It would be for a Kids Charity that keeps Teens off the streets and helps brings out their potentials. Interesting Activities - sports, music, dance etc. If there isn't such a charity, I'd set one up myself and donate the money into it.
How much would I donate? Not sure, I'll decide that while I'm cruising on a Yacht around the Caribbean....

I'm sure that if we won a million dollars we would donate some to charity. I'm not sure how much; we're not hugely rich now. As far as who; it would probably local hands on charities not burden with huge administrations.

I have had many instances in my life where people have shown gratitude and have helped me out in ways that I cannot even begin to thank.
If I won a million dollars, I would probably donate to a children's fund since I have an mentally disable child, however, what I wish to do the most and hope to someday is to sponsor a local, deserving family with a special needs child and give them a Christmas they would cherish for years to come.
I know how hard trying times can be and having a special needs child adds tremendous stress on a family financially. There are some super decent people in this world who work very hard to support their families and have too much pride to ask for help.
I would get in touch with a local non-profit organization and ask them to help me find a family in need. This would all be done anonymously and privately.
That's what I would do If I won a million dollars.
Plus I would buy a bunch of PJ's for the local women's shelter.

If I made a million dollars whether I gave it to a charity would all depend on circumstances etc. However, I would most likely try and set up a business or invest it in a growing business (probably renewable) in the hope that I could make a bigger difference later. $1 million is a large amount, but I am sure that most charities would rather wait a few years and then get a much larger sum (as the returns on renewable energy investments in the UK at the moment can be 20%+ at the moment).

I would buy 3 apartments put 200K in the bank and live off interest and rent, then I would probably do something for others but I would rather be involved on a personal level with helping others in need. I don't have much faith in big charities. With the 2 rental properties I would own, I'd probably take out a loan for 2 more and have renters pay them off for me. Ten years later I would set up my own charity. Maybe keep investing in property and house young offenders so often ignored.

I would first seek out unemployed, talented people from my state Kerala, India without judging them by colour, caste or religion, then would employ them to a profitable business from which all profit amount would be regularly distributed for the widows, children education, needy patients, home- return prisoners, poor families who are not able to afford their daughters’ marriages, etc after considering the severity of their demand. From the rest 50%, I would invest another 25% of it to set up a small library for the young and old people of my village Cannore, Kerala, and with the remaining 25% amount, I would take all of my family members to an overseas tour.

Is this a trick question, a rhetorical question or a real question to which you seek answers?
I definitely would donate to feed the hungry and shelter the homeless. Such are things to which I believe every human being has a God-given right, as to me, the earth and its bounty belongs to all. It bothers me that right in our midst, in the richest society the world has ever known, people are hungry and without roofs over their heads, and to me, it's a sin and a shame. We need to do right by one another.
