Mother Earth -- Our Only Hope For The Future

With the threat of global warming, the future of the Earth is very much in question. Whether you say you believe -- or do not believe -- in global warming, let me just say that you most likely do, just... keep reading →

The earth is not going to "die" any time soon. Only new-age wackos think that the earth is alive. If the earth is whacked by a huge comet or asteroid, there will be a lot of rearrangement of its components, but will still be here.

Humans, OTH, can go at any time. That asteroid/comet will likely kill off humans and all large things - other animals and trees. Most everything will start over, in new directions, like it has several times in the past.

And, even if not hit by an asteroid/comment, the human race is not long for this world. Primitive or modestly technological societies can tolerate the existence of a lot of idiots and religious wackos (Christian, Muslim, orthodox Jews, Hindus...) and their mistakes or destructive actions.

Now, with high tech, all it will take is a few idiots or wackos to destroy themselves and the rest of us.

Humans are not going anywhere off-planet in a SELF-sustaining way. Any space stations or colonies on moon or Mars will depend on earth. When our high-tech goes, so will the colonies.

And, our high-tech "civilization" is going to go. It is unsustainable due to massive overpopulation which has exceeded the environmental carrying capacity - resources - water, oil, fish, arable land... Earth can support only a MUCH smaller population with high tech.

Even if people were to consider population control, it is now probably too late. And they won't consider it anyway, as the stupidity (religious and social mores) that led to overpopulation will preclude any orderly reduction through birth control, abortion, letting the wolves eat defective newborns, and medical care triage, etc.

The debate over "global warming" is a distraction from the REAL issue - overpopulation. "Global warming" is a relatively "safe" subject to argue about. Promoted by the media and government.

Overpopulation is the fart in the elevator that no one acknowledges.

Scientists are saying that the earth as we know it will last another 10 billion years. At that time there is be another big bang and possibly a new universe will be created. There was a show on the history channel that said that maybe the world is in more than one dimension. That means that the world may not be all that is to be seen. There may be another you on another undiscovered space of matter in outer space. Watch the History Channel if you are intrigued by the universe. The 10 billion duration of the earth was retrieved from a library text book.
