I'm with pjk_artist. Nothing you can accumulate or achieve will ever be the measure of your success if you are not happy. So many people think that having money, fame or being at the "top of the food chain" professionally are indicators of success. But I've had two of the three, and I can tell you that I wasn't nearly as happy as I am now.
For me, success is having a well-adjusted, happy family. We love and respect each other. We have a lot of fun, despite not having a lot of money, and we truly, deeply enjoy our time together. I still get daily hugs and kisses and "I love you's" from my 16 year old. Even in front of her friends!! Now that's success!
The most important thing I've done in my life is to have and raise this amazing family!

If you don't know where you're going, you won't know it when you get there.
SO, if you don't have a goal, how can you ever say you've been successful?
Sometimes our goals are simple and even subconscious, like tying your shoes. Other times our goals are complicated and take time.
Like Stephen Wright says, "Anywhere is within walking distance if you have the time."
Success is the achievement of a goal.
