I lot of my ideas come to me when I'm going to sleep or just when I'm waking up. I just let my mind work on it. Sometimes I can lay out the hub in my mind.
I also get plenty of hubs from Q&A; it has been very helpful.

C'Mon Ocker.... You MUST Know Something About How Well Kiwis Go when competing for breathing space with their Aussi mates!
OOOOOOOOOOOh I Don't Know... We are always trying to get a Digger over the Hlll... (Is That a Clue?)
Both you & I come from a pretty interesting part of the world.. (Did you know that the Ormish in Pen State think that Australia is the Island at the bottom of NZ?) Yep, I found it really easy to convince them that Kiwis are Best!! Hahaha.
Tell the world Why we love to rag eachother.
What happened at ANZAC Cove.
Why deep down you would rather rely on a kiwi than a Dingo!
Chin up cobber.. Sell your home to the world.
But if you are going to write a hub on Oz/Kiwi Humour... You can do it with me ... Ok?
Take a blank piece of paper & a pen. Write down everything that your nextdoor neighbour knows.
You'll be ok... Relax. If you fill the page -
He'll be a Kiwi, For Sure!!! (lol)
Good to know you Ocker... You keep in touch and I'm always happy to help you out..... Which way did you come In?
Seriously, take your time.. No One knows your life better than you. Just shut your eyes and reveiw the experiences that only an Aussi or Kiwi would experience. Easy.

There is a story (hub) in nearly anything. My advice as a journalist and published author is first stick to something you know well: perhaps some new thing you have done or new adventure you have had. With the search engines today, you have a whole library of research material at your finger- tips. Being careful not to plagiarize, you can back your story up with the experiences and expertise of others, and what they have said about a subject will give you ideas and new directions for your article to take.
Talk to friends about where their interests lie and what makes them curious. Take the political pulse of the nation and see if you can write about something that is missing from the editorial fervour of the moment. For example, with the current MP's expenses crisis, you notice some area that has escaped the press and media attention - what about the royal family's expense claims, are they also fair or excessive in today's climate?
Or you can write a first-person article about your own family life and your pets. I noticed a lack of such articles about cage birds, for example, and began my first hub the other day about aquiring a pair of budgies. I, too, am new to hubbing and publishing directly on the internet, it seems very complex and a bit of a minefield. How are YOU finding it? There's an article there.
Someone once recently said that 400 years ago, it was thereotically possible for one person to study and memorize the sum total of scientific thought. But now, he maintained, we cannot know fully everything there is to know about a blade of grass. There's a hub, "Grasses of the World!"
Where I Get My Ideas For Hubs

there are many ways ,
i can also write a hub on these ,
just see the q&a on hubpages 5 times a day average.
you can participate in some of the best online forum communities which also pays you to write
example : mylot.com
hubpages forums is the best way , if you carefully notice there are 80% topics which can be converted into hubs & you also dont need a research , you can see the contribution by different hubbers on this topics & you can write these by some changes & modification.
you can also go to question answer sites to find topics , such asd :: yahoo answer , pickjack(you can also get paid from pickjack on giving answer) etc.
go to google knol , wikipedia etc.
if you put some pressure on mind ,
topics are every where , every side you can see & what you listen.
enjoy life by research.
