I tried it, the benefits were temporary and I felt like crap definately would NOT recommend it.

Long term I understand it damages brain cells too ,which incidently are the only cells that NEVER replace themselves no far better to follow Brodi's advice.

Good Luck you can do it !

Hi David, I tried before, but in correct way. Correct way in terms of fasting on during period in between normal meal session....it is quite effective........this strategy also called as "eat stop eat', which break your meal into few "mini meals".........I'm not encouraged people fasting for few days....it is very harmful for your health..

Yeah, not recommended. If you're not used to it, your body can react very badly to not getting enough food. I actually went momentarily blind once when I hadn't eaten for a long time.

Fasting was never meant for weight loss! Fasting depletes your body of necessary vitamins and minerals that it needs to be healthy. What happens after your third day of fasting is that your fat cells begin stabilizing, they receive signals from the brain that the body is in fact starving so they will actually store fat for the body to live on. That is why as soon as you begin eating again you immediately begin packing on the weight again! The fat cells simply fill back up quickly because they store the "starvation memory" as well! You will lose a small amount of weight quickly, then it will slow way down, you will begin to lose your energy and feel sickly. You will become pale, gaunt. It is very unhealthy! If you really want to lose weight, simply cut down your portions and eat right! Three meals a day, fruits, vegetables, a starch, a protein. Cook with Olive oil! Use low cholesterol Products. Choose less fatty Meats, Fish, Poultry, and Lean Beef. The best diet is a simple healthy diet. Don't eat snacks between meals unless they are healthy! A piece of fruit, a hand full of low salt nuts! Vegetables! Make sure to drink lots of water! Exercise, even if it is just taking a walk!

Bad idea. All that will happen is you will get weak, grouchy and hungry. Any weight you lose will be water or muscle or both. Your resting metabolism rate (RMR) will decrease to compensate for the starvation mode you have put it in, meaning your body will burn fewer and fewer calories at rest. So when you go off your fast, your lower metabolism will cause you to gain weight back faster than if you never fasted at all.

Think of food as fuel. You don't give your car any gas, it doesn't go. You don't give your body and food, you will be sorry.

Better idea - cut out some extras for a week or so, and exercise a little bit more. When you feel like a snack, go for a walk or do some crunches. Can't eat while you are doing situps.

Fasting for weight loss has been very in demand for dieters nowadays. This is one of the easiest tickets to achieve your dream body. It is indeed advisable to use this method if you want to lose weight quickly in a short period of time; but it is not acceptable to be followed for an extended period of time.

Fasting is a means that thoroughly reduce calories in your every meal. The most in demand weight-loss fasts are the Master Cleanse, liquid diets and some fruit juice diets.

1. While a dieter is in the fasting stage, he just drinks fruit juices for the whole day to fill in his appetite. In this method, you are lowering your calorie intake, and maintain your body functions. But then, your body will starve rapidly as it burns fats while you are doing your activities.

2. Most frequently, dieter who is in a fasting for weight loss mode loses 1-4 pounds a day. These particular diets must be continued for about a week or longer.

3. Juice diets combined with raw foods are proven to sustain weight loss and good health condition.

However, there are also disadvantages behind this tempting way to lose weight. Some of these are:

4. Water and muscle loss instead of actual fat loss.

5. Pounds that are lost will come back after a dieter eats normally anew.

6. Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies because of limited calorie intake.

7. Feeling of dizziness and depression.

It depends what you mean by fasting.

I've fasted before for religious reasons, but I decided to cut certain foods out of my diet. Things such as fried foods, chocolate, anything unnatural.

I ate more fruit and vegetables, and I lost about 10 pounds, and I felt alot better in the day-to-day. But eating more often but less actually helps you lose weight because it increases your metabolism

Hi

I'm a Muslim and I actually fast every year for a whole month, well technically I eat after a couple of hours during the day and I keep that up for a whole month.

And it's not that hard, let me explain:

before you begin fasting you can choose to eat before hand and since it starts before dawn you have to get up way early to eat your food.

And when your in the fasting time frame you can't eat food for something like 7-8 hours, And it's recommended to open your fast with a glass of water and dates. Well that's what I was told anyway

I have found that it's best not to use up all your energy, I remember at school I was fasting and I went to play football, by the end of the day I was completely drained lol.

Just don't overdo it because you need your energy to get you through the day and another thing is to stay away from food and TV. KFC adverts kills me all the time lol.

It's hard at first but half way through the month my body gets use to it, nearing the end I just fly through it. And I remember when I was with one of my friends and I noticed how lose my jeans was, I was very excited because I lost weight.

And one crucial thing is to break your fast with good healthy food, make sure you eat enough nutrition, well I always start with the chicken. And don't stuff your face, because you won't be able to get up.

Sort of.

I have spent the last month just drinking meal replacement shakes. After about a week, I didn't feel as hungry.

Got some great results from the Kate Morgan sachets. Over 10KG in a month. You can get some more info of their website http://www.katemorgan.com.au

I would not suggest this for long term weight loss. The fact is that your body need nutrients from food to function efficiently. Fasting will slow your body's fat burning systems down instead of speeding them up.

Better advice would be to pursue a comprehensive weight loss training program that includes calorie management, resistence training, cardio training and other key factors.

Hey!

Definetely the worst thing you can do when attempting to lose weight!Especially if you are diabetic or have impaired glucose tolerance or hypoglycemia(low blood glucose). In that case you may feel really dizzy, irritable and even lose consciousness.

When you diet or fast, you don't change your eating and lifestyle habits, which means once you stop your diet or fasting you still don't know how to eat healthhily(because no new regume has been established),let alone the fact that most of your weight loss would be water and protein(from internal organs such as heart, liver and also muscles).

Eat regularly(every 3-4 hours) and each of your meals should comprise protein/carbs/"healthy" fats.

It is possible to lose weight without starvation.

And good luck!

Fasting is a great thing to do, but you can't maintain it. If you want to maintain a stable body weight, you have to eat nutrient rich foods.

Maybe you can try aqua or juice therapy for three times a week, alternating between days. It means no solid food for a whole day. Its a sort of a cleansing therapy.

Yes fasting works because your not putting anything into your body and it allows all of the unprocessed gunk lining your system to be purged. There is research to back this up. However you will feel much better and accomplish the same results if you do a juice fast. Going the water only way will make you feel like junk. Research shows that a two day fast once or twice a year is great for the colon. Google it, its in various medical journals, however most of the weight will return but the health benefits will last. So is it your best bet for weight loss, not really.
