I love hip hop. I feel hip-hop is in a good place and has been since the early 90's. The many indie labels that keep the majors having to up amount of dollars they give to new artists are a must even in this economy of cut backs. We have to remember though that hip hop has many many artists who do not talk only about money, drugs, guns, and women. The only things is we don't support the Wale's, Consequence's, Q-tips and other artist who don't rep the gangster, drug dealer mentality. When was the last time you called the radio station and demanded that if they don't diversify their playlist that we won't listen to them on the radio any longer and we will use the web to let others know not to listen. The radio tells us what we want to hear based on the major labels telling them what they want us to hear. To them it's a business and nothing more. They don't understand the music and the motives behind the music they just sit down with data from other similar acts and duplicate that act over and over again and it keeps hip hop from ever changing. Not to mention a lot of major label upper execs only see us a ignorant and one sided and so they only take chances on artists that fit the business model that they created around their opinions of us. Its about power and control. Hip-hop's voice is bigger than any newspaper, magazine, or website on the planet. Hip-hop is in every corner of the globe, brewing out of the darkest of most oppressive of situation all the way to the brightest and most liberated of situations. So me personally I don't want to see the style or direction change, I would much rather see more artists put their record deals on the line and put out the music they would like to instead of the major label telling them to scrap the whole project and put them on the shelf because the album's not urban or gangster enough.

I like Hip Hop but it would be nice if they had positive lyrics for young people. Music is one of the effective ways to communicate to the youth of today. If they won't listen to their parents, at least they'll listen to their Hip Hop idols.

I love hip-hop I would like to see hip-hop become more diverse, like it was in the beginning.I would like to see more originality from the artist instead of following the same tried and true blueprints (gangsta, dance)I would like to see artist take more creative chances,I would like to see more positivety, also, because we are not all gangsters,I would like to see more hip-hop songs that motivate people to do positive things.I used to produce, make beats, and flow ten years ago,I wish you luck on your career path.

I agree with Lady_E. A good beat is important, but if you're making music that's going to be heard by a lot of people, it should have a good message. Something everyone can identify with.

I like hip hop. I also like other kinds of music too. What I'd like to see change about hip hop is the content. Give us something to be proud to listen to, something that makes people feel good and not envious. A lot of hip hop today is so into talking about how much money they have, how many people they have sex with and I think we need less of that. Kids are so sex crazed now-a-days and I think that something to make them think before they catch (or make) something they don't want in their bodies. If you have to put it on the album, cool. But for the radio, we should be more child sensitive so they can enjoy it too.

Hip Hop and What it Means to Me

I love music almost as much as I love money. I listen to only hip hop. I like to listen to something that I can dance to. Something that I can bob my head to in the car. Hip hop is about so much and is so... keep reading →

Any music can be good or bad. Hip-Hop is not doing the youth in this country a favor by tearing down the morality our youth need. My biggest complaint is when some moron is Jamm'in and A-slam'in, Bump'in and Thump'in, and making the dog bark while the cat yaks-up a hairball at one in the freak'in morning! What is wrong with you noise polluters? Don't you know that causes male incontinence? Thats why you're sitting in a puddle ya freak!

I Like hip hop and yes I would like to see it change but for the good. feel rappers wanting to tell thier story but now everything is based around money, drugs, and the ladies. It make the people that work hard want to settle for less, because drugs make it seem so easy. Hip Hop now, will turn a smart beautiful girl into trash, the materialistic things will cause them to flaunt it in the wrong direction. We as men make it no better because we're willing to risk our life for fast life, and run our women down and be off to the next. Why because we can and her being weak allow us too, she thinking to much into being treated like a queen. She falls victim and us we use our own supply and fall victim, when all this change so will the game of Hip Hop.

"Rap" Is a great tool to use as a motivational speaker, if someone were to put it to good use, Fans today will listen to hip-hop artists speak (it's what they do), most are young enough to be their peers.
