Why don't more teams run the triangle offense in the NBA?

It takes versatility to run the triangle offense, and so many of today's players are one-dimensional (unfortunately). It is also likely that not many coaches understand its intricacies enough to teach it--it is one thing to coach against it, another issue altogether making it work for your own team. Phil Jackson had Tex Winter with him throughout most of his career because Winter was the one who largely crafted it. With the influx of big men who like to come out high and shoot jump shots, I don't know why more teams don't use the high-low offense unless it is simply impatience.

Honestly it takes to much team work. Players today are coached to be one on one scorers, athletic post players, (or in my case) the short PG who creates off picks and shoots threes. Coachs no longer take the time with young players to teach the rotation and floor spaceing, which are the most important parts of the triangle offense.

Then there's the issue that few big me set quality picks anymore. The triangle offense creates nothing with the pick option if a big doesn't set it correctly (because no space is made between the guard and his defender).

The 'pinch post' option requires a PF who can pass, and PF's are groomed as scorers nowadays.

The center, who is the back to the basket post scorer commonly in tirangle offense, no longer exsist. They are PF who face up and call themselves centers, or defensive experts.

The triangle offense was not created for the modern NBA, at least to me. That's why Phil uses a much different version for this current Laker team.

the triangle or triple post offense is one of the most complicated schemes in basketball and hard to teach. also it requires at least a decent workhorse big man and a small forward that can defend and shoot threes. having a 2 guard like Jordan and Kobe can't hurt either.

One BIG reason is now in the NBA us Americans are so caught up in trying to do everything the Europeans do that most teams now are trying to Run an Uptempo type of game with mostly shooters on the floor and the Post player being able to shoot and move away from the Basket.....

BUT then again....The Triangle offense takes time to be taught to these NBA players because if it is to be ran it needs to be ran correctly and most coaches dont want to spend the time to teach the players this very difficult system....

It looks so smooth and nice when the Lakers Run it....But Lets figure Out WHY hmmmmm:

Those are all the ingrediants to what you need to run the triangle offense.

Because using a particular offensive system will also have to depend on the basketball philosophy of a certain coach. Players do sometimes determine on what system of play a team will use.
