There are many ways that you can improve your online profile for your website, all free, starting with making sure that you website is optimised with the right keywords, titles, meta tags etc.

Next, make sure that your website has been submitted to the three major search engines ie google, yahoo & msn.

Articles are a good way of raising your profile. Write lots of articles, and submit each one to around 5 article sites.

Create a blog and drive traffic to your website from there. For some, the blog is the website!

I am totally agree with previous answers, but I suggest to search from google about inbound marketing, it is pretty fine way to do it. Go out and help people, make yourself useful to others, be active in groups, answer questions, write articles with targeted keywords etc. There are so many ways to do this.
