I agree with advisor 4qb that women live longer so that they can have a life of their own after raising their children and their husband.

So that we can still have a life after our children grow up and our husbands die of old age. I think we can paint and play cards still at that point.

Personally, I believe it's also because they have the "motherly" traits, and are always there for their young. But I think it really does depend on the type of person they are.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the higher pain threshold and our survivor instinct for our young. Both evolutionary developments so if you don't believe in evolution, then my answer is just that women live longer because we are too damn stubborn to die.
