Loading... Is it weird when a man likes to watch sensitive "chick-flicks" and cries at the end of them?

It's weird alright! LOL. Just kidding.

Seriously now, a film can provide a good opportunity to unload unexpressed emotions from some other event, like a recent death, stressful job pressures, and so on. I remember crying my eyes out after a stupid bear movie - and then I realized I was really grieving something else - and it made me feel a lot lighter. I think it's healthy.

It's not weird at all. Everyone, including men, react in a manner that is particular to their own set of character traits and personalities.

Countless movies make me cry. Crazy Heart is one right at the top of the list. The Wrestler is another. It's called human emotion and if people that want to cry at movies refuse to cry at movies, they are voiding themselves of human emotion and are therefore - stupid :P

I'm not sure I like the fact that certain movies that may arouse the "softer" emotions, are labeled "chick flicks." What does that say? Men can't enjoy a movie that leans a bit toward the female side of things? That's plain silly! As a woman, I watch numerous different types of movies.....many that are probably considered more of the man-frame-of-mind subject matter. Whatever kind of movie you enjoy watching is perfectly fine...normal and certainly not "weird!" As for crying? You're not a man void of emotion are you? Not made of stone? Go ahead cry. My husband is a soft touch and I've seen his eyes tear up while watching a touching scene, many times. It only makes me love him more for his humanity.

I guess if you are a guy, you might say it is a little weird as most guys feel uncomfortable being spotted expressing that kind of emotion, or being found watching that kind of movie. They are more aware of or sensitive to what other guys might think. A man who is confident in himself, is not bothered by what others think and if something touches them it is not unrealistic for them to sheds tears because of it. Everyone has feelings and can be touched by moving stories. It can actually be a healthy release of feelings that have been hidden till that point in time.

I don't think so. If something is good enough to make someone cry, I say go ahead and cry.

Well, no, not exactly. It could be that the man (hmm, you?), is a little depressed and these type of movies give him a reason to let off some emotional steam so to speak. Or...it could be that he is just a very, very sensitive kind of guy who is deeply touched by anything emotional. It can be a very good thing, but as we all know, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. If my guy was sobbing at the end of chick flicks, I would get a little worried. Watery eyes, a lump in the throat, okay, but beyond that, unless the storyline was about an issue that my guy deeply related to from something that happened in his life, I would be concerned.

I think it may be odd for a man to watch sensitive flicks and cry at the end of them. That being said, I do not think it is weird for a man to "tear up" at some of these movies, after all, they are human. Now outright crying, or bawling -- that would be weird, especially if he does it in public for all to see. For the most part, I think most men have strong command of their emotions and even though they may be touched by a film, I don't think men would cry at these movies.

I don't think so. It's a stereotypical misconception that men should act in masculine ways that do not include crying during a movie or watching one with a "girlie" plot line. We all react differently to things, man or woman. I don't personally feel gender has anthing to do with that.

it is not weird at all for me..there are just guys who are sensitive and in touch with their emotion just like girls..they can even be to emotional..i knew a lot of guys who happened to like "TITANIC" as their favorite movie..i think it is a desirable trait..all good traits are desirable..and i hope it is natural trait for them that they are sensitive type and not only to give their best foot forward to impress a girl..it is a lovely thing for a guy to be sensitive and show more her feminine side..

Yes, it's weird. I watch them anyway, but then I make my wife watch a movie with me where they blow up a lot of stuff and kill a lot of bad guys. Anything with Chuck Norris in it will usually work pretty well. I believe in balance.

Not unless it is wierd that you can identify with emotions. I actually think it is a power you should be proud of, if you are the said "chick flick" fan.

I don't think it's weird at all. In fact, I think most women would find that refreshing for once.
