I like to use a soft, clean dry cloth, and not a tissue because sometime that sends to leave dust behind. I recently I bought a duster mitt (not the flat one, but the thicker microfiber duster mitt) and it works pretty good to keep dust away. I think the trick is to dust frequently and keep all foods and beverages far away!

I personally have a very high end monitor (30 inch Apple Cinema Display) and I plan to make it last a very long time. The last thing you want to use are products like windex, or glass plus. Anything with Ammonia is going to get negative results using it on delicate membrane displays.
I only use eyeglass optical cleaner that I purchase from the place that makes my progressive lenses for my eyeglasses.
Never ever spray directly on the monitor screen, but on a dust-free free towel then clean with a circular motion - and then buff dry with another dry dust free cloth.
This cleaner costs a lot more than household products that you can buy locally but it's worth it to keep your monitor from chemical scratches or becoming blurred from the cleaning chemicals slightly melting the display surface.

Dirt, dust, and fingerprints can cause the computer screen to be difficult to read,
and can be very unsightly.especially if you have children or pets.
The glass monitor screen can be cleaned with ordinary household glass cleaner*.
Be sure to turn off the power of the monitor and spray the cleaner onto a soft cloth
so the fluid doesn't leak into the components inside the monitor.
I suggest using a cloth dampened with water and rubbing alcohol
when cleaning your monitor however on a screen that is not made of glass or has any type
of anti-glare protection on the screen. Using glass cleaner on special screens, especially
cleaners with ammonia can remove anti-glare protection.
if you have an LCD screen it is important to remember to not spray any liquids onto
the LCD directly, press very gently when cleaning, and do not use a paper towels because it
it can cause your LCD screen to be scratched.
I recommend that you use a soft cloth slightly dampened with one part water
and one part rubbing alcohol, and this should do the trick.
