I personally have a very high end monitor (30 inch Apple Cinema Display) and I plan to make it last a very long time. The last thing you want to use are products like windex, or glass plus. Anything with Ammonia is going to get negative results using it on delicate membrane displays.
I only use eyeglass optical cleaner that I purchase from the place that makes my progressive lenses for my eyeglasses.
Never ever spray directly on the monitor screen, but on a dust-free free towel then clean with a circular motion - and then buff dry with another dry dust free cloth.
This cleaner costs a lot more than household products that you can buy locally but it's worth it to keep your monitor from chemical scratches or becoming blurred from the cleaning chemicals slightly melting the display surface.
