The foreskin protects the glans (head) of the penis. It is somewhat akin to the clitoris in a woman.
The foreskin contributes to the penis' sensitivity. When the foreskin is removed and the glans exposed, that skin toughens up a little because it is now exposed to things like the texture of underwear or blue jeans rubbing against it. This reduces sensitivity; and, lowers the level of pleasure in lovemaking.
