When I read the Kama Sutra, quite honestly, I was looking at a series of pictures of sexual positions, most all of which I had tried by just 'following my instincts'...and hence none of them were a revelation to me. Why they had to go to such lengths to write this book, so many hundreds of years ago, and why it is so popular still today, is a mystery to me, except that, perhaps many people do not know how to listen to the inner-sexual-voice and so need to be given hints.
At any rate, most of the positions are quite fun to try and some of them don't really work at all for me. I like to make up my own variations, not one of which I can describe here on Hubpages, but which are truly innovative and increase sexual enjoyement for me by 100%.
The kama sutra is also a book with much more than sex in it, by the way. The actual book is a compendium on a number of other subjects, and as such is well worth taking a look at on Google books, or in a hundred other places you can find it for free.

Yep, this book was a hot copy in our library. Always on the reserve-me-this-book or else! For future readers- do not linger on the pictures. Read the text!- i read this line somewhere in the pages of this book: "All the places that can be kissed are also the places that can be bitten." - Yes, i borrowed it - as a referral book for my Reproductive Anatomy course. As evenmurphy pointed out, you just listen to the inner sexual voice.
The book was written hundreds of years ago as a document manual for sexual practices. Apart from sexual positions, the book also give other aspects of social life. Please try not to read the book only to know different position...

The Kamasutra is actually an ancillary religious text of Hinduism that holds reproduction as a key value (maybe that is why India is so overpopulated...). The Linga (male sexual organ) and the Yoni (female sexual organ) are revered for fertility but the process of reproduction is not supposed to be automatic and without passion anymore than a religious Christian/Catholic service is supposed to be. It was not a age old challenge to anyone's natural sexual instincts or whether they can top the moves presented.
