Loading... What recent movie vastly exceeded your expectations?
For me, it would be The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I was expecting a dumb action movie. Instead, what I got was little action and excellent drama. Not to mention a meditation on our sheer destructiveness as a species.

Nothing so deep and philosophical for me. It was Tin Tin, and my biggest fear was removing him from a 2-dimensional comic book format. I was worried about putting him into a 3-d computer graphic movie, since the original art was a large part of his appeal. Thankfully, the movie was excellent, and true to the spirit of the original. I went home very happy.

Like Crewman6, nothing too deep for me either- but I watched Horrible Bosses and it was pretty good. I think most of the comedies out there are pretty terrible so I wasn't expecting much. But it was pretty funny, the plot was good and it was a good cast. Several actors got to play out of type, like Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell, which was nice to see.
