Loading... How many people agree with me on there being pray put back in schools?

I am from the UK, and my daughter has Religious Studies where she learns all about the different cultures and religions for one session a week at school. She doesn't pray at school which isn't a problem for her or me. If she wants to pray, she can do so at home or at church.

What many fail to realize is that the school system in the US is a public system. Who makes up the public? Of course the public does and the public is made up of different belief systems. More people like to pray than those who do not like to pray. Prayer should be allowed but not forced on anyone.

I'm not so sure about forcing prayer on kids, but, I think before the Pledge of Allegience and before lunch there should be a moment of silence for students who choose to pray. This shows respect for God without forcing a particular religion on someone. I believe that freedom of religion includes freedom not to be religious.

I DO! 100%! That's what's wrong with schools now!

I don't think we should teach our children to believe in fantasies. I have no problem with people praying, as long as its on their own time, outside of public institutions. School should be for learning about what is real, not unicorns and people floating in the clouds.

Prayer has never been taken out of public schools. What has been removed is mandatory prayer. Are you arguing for mandatory prayer? If a student, who is religious, wants to pray, they can do so at any time as long as it's not disruptive to other students. They can pray at lunch. They can pray when they go to the bathroom. Mandatory, organized prayer is what church is for.
