I met a couple years ago that were drifting apart. Although they had been high school sweethearts they found living together easier than making a commitment.
The male side of this partnership was clearing taking the presence of his loving girlfriend. I decided to make an experiment.
I had been invited to a Valentines Day dinner that I knew these two star crossed lovers would attend. I arranged to have a dozen long stem red roses delivered to the lady, who we will call Foxy.
Foxy did not know they were coming and as her boyfriend had never before sent her flowers, she was very excited and happy when they arrived. He also was excited because he knew they were not from him.
A card came with the flowers stating that the lovely flowers were a gift from an anonymous admirer. The name Jaberwocky was given as the signature.
Everyone was shocked and Foxy was intrigued and wondered out loud who this wonderful person could be. To make the story shorter, let's just say that within a week the boyfriend realized how much he really loved Foxy and how close he might be to losing her. He asked her to marry and they are still married 40 years later.
