They can also hear music. Consider what you want to expose your soon-to-be rugrat to. Do you want it to be a hoodlum? Keep playing rap. Do you want it cultured and mellow? Play classical and jazz.

I have seven children, and they all appeared to recognise both my voice and my husband's. When they cried as newborns, they would be soothed and settled as soon as I spoke quietly to them. They turned their heads at the sound of mine or my husband's voice. I also played soft music before they were born, which helped settle them as newborns.

Apparently, they can. They even recognize it when they are born. It usually take them a few weeks to recognize their dad's voice.

Yes, most definitely! When their ears begin to form they start to hear noises! I had three children and I know from carrying my three children and feeling all their movements and their summersaults inside of me that they respond to noises too! A funny thing happened when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, when I went to go see E.T.(1982). I was watching the movie when suddenly I was startled by a scene in the movie and I jumped and so did my little girl I was carrying at the time! My sister was sitting next to me and she saw my baby jump and she she said "did you see the baby jump? And I said not only did I see her jump ,but I felt it! It was a memorable moment for me and my sister who I lost in 2003!They also know the voice of not only their mother ,but their father too! When they are born they automically know who are their parents are! This is because he or she heard their parents voices when they were still inside growing in their mother's womb or uterus! While your pregnant you can talk and sing to your baby and you will make your baby feel loved by you! I remember I always talked to my children when I was carrying them! I couldn't wait to see who they looked like either me or their father when they were born! Of course I gave birth to three beautiful, normal and very healthy children! To this day I am proud of all of my children and happy to be a grand-mother to my oldest daughter that jumped when I jumped too! I hope you enjoyed my comment!
